Edward the Bonobo - Gone.

Hostas...slugs will be a problem, no? Three possible antidotes. You need to acquire either:
- A duck.
- A hedgepig.
- Some nematodes.

The last of these you can buy mail order. You can put them in a watering can. I've not seen mail order ducks or hedgepigs. The packaging would be interesting, but.

Beatrice, you're not going away on Easter week or anything, are you? Maybe I could get a jaunt up your way around then.

Sorry to interruopt! But I have to point out. You see in the first post that U11153147 bit? Well, it's wrong.

That is, it is wrong since this evening when I locked myself out of that account by forgetting the log-in details of it. smiley - erm

I'm here now, if a little late smiley - puff
Right, regarding plants in a wet shady area.
Astilbe's are good, nice plants with a range of flower colours. Ligularia is another good one. If you like something a little strange, there is a couple of carnivorous plants you could try Saracenia flava and Saracenia purpurea. They are totally hardy and don't need any special treatment. Arum Lily's do well in damp shady spots too.
Hope i've given some ideas smiley - smiley

That's great Bea. I'll give you a shout closer to the time - maybe I could head up Easter Monday or Tuesday or whatever suits. I'll ring your PA and sort something out smiley - biggrin

Venus, I didn't know there were any carnivorous clients who could live outdoors here. Live and learn! Arum lillies get poisonous berries though. Just thinking of Bea's pooch...Astilbes is a good one. Slugs don't bother them a lot.

It's not that I've a slug fixation, but the damp shady conditions sound like heaven for them. smiley - biggrin

Although...according to Bill Odie, slugs copulating are an amazing and beautiful sight.

His name's well earned.
