the tampa bay lightning did indeed strike, putting out the calgary flames 2-1 to win Lord Stanley's Cup and making florida home of the national hockey league chapions, which sounds quite a bit odd. having an ice rink in canada makes sense, but paying to keep one in florida is a whole 'nother pile of change.
anyway, what's cool is that each of the players on the lightning get to take the Cup itself, something like a large punch bowl mounted on a pedestal, to their homes for a week during the offseason and give parties with it.
(kinda what i imagine some h2g2 parties are.)

That's most unusual. One would think that when lightning strikes, it would ignite flames, not put them out, but whatever. I'm glad the USA triumphed.
As for imagining how some h2g2 parties are, yes, they can be quite like a giant punch bowl. But why wonder? After all, you did have an opportunity to attend a gala masked ball recently, if I recall, and you chose to stay locked up in your belfry . You could have imagined anything there you would have wanted. Personally, I brought a half dozen baseballs with me in my pockets , but I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do with them after I got there. So I just lay them down on the bar and got my .
Alrighty then, so you don't 'do' cyber-parties. Or bars.
Suppose, hypothetically of course, that there is a cyber game of ball in the form of the American version of base ball to be played on Thursday, June 17, at 6:15 in the evening at some location in some galaxy that goes by the name of Smith Field. The cyber hometown team will be wearing a combination of grey, green, and yellow, with hats bearing a striking resemblance to the Oakland Atlhetics, with big A's on them. The cyber visitors will be wearing navy on grey pinstriped pants, navy blue shirts, and navy caps with a mysterious golden E in the middle of them. The cyber home team is rumoured to be the superior team, and they should be ready for revenge on their home turf, seeing as how they were defeated by the golden E's at their last cyber match.
Ah, but I suppose a little game of American base ball is not your 'thing' either. Is it cyber? Is it real? Is there a difference? Does it make any difference?

you have my cyber-replies from colorado to cleveland to the BBC, nancy. i'm having a difficult enough time with reality.
i've played at smith field. they've fixed it up decent since those days, even put in restrooms.
i think i've e-told how i threw thru the cutoff man to home to keep a runner from scoring from 3B, before a Legion game.

We ALL have a difficult enough time with reality, Several, but we get thru it as best we can.
Cyber restrooms, eh? Very clever! Perhaps they could pass that concept on to the cyber fields in Mentor, where they don't believe that facilities of that type are a necessity.
Yes, I recall that e-story of your catching bravado. I believe that was the last time your knees worked properly. But that ##%$#% was OUT!!!
What we don't do for love of the game....

actually, 'the throw' from RF at smith field was before the knee got crushed in college. 'the throw' held the runner at 3B in a tie extra-inning game with the Legion players and fans watching.
the crushed knee was at ohio state and the runner never got within two feet of the plate. jim hull made a helluva throw, i couldn't let him down.
that's what catchers are for. i've been a pitcher, and i KNOW how important that dude behind the plate is.
Key: Complain about this post
