A "red lights district" is usually a err naughty area in some towns/cities [so I'm told ]...

The "red card"... A final warning?! [might need someone to elaborate on this one]... Not sure if it is [or not] specific to football[soccer]... I also hope I haven't dreamt it [ I'm not really into sports]...

There is another expression with red in it I've heard before... I will try to post it tomorrow [need to check spelling etc first]...

Personally, I think it should be put in the collaborative writing workshop section, but I don't if I can go back and change it now. Its tough to make an entry on a color very interesting, so the writing ideas of others would be great. If it has to stay in peer review, feel free to write up your own entry and post it to this conversation.

I'm not going to comment on the content as such, but the formatting - the use of preformatted text means that the right-hand sidebar is off the side of my screen (and that's on a very large screen!)

It would be better to use tags without preformatted text to make the page more usable.

Hah! See A656804 for a plain example of how a colour can be interesting. It's only tough if (a) you don't do your research (b) you don't use your imagination and (c) you take a rather simplistic angle.

I think there is potential for a good article, but it does need more depth.

Just listing things that are red isn't enough, you should explain why red is used or why things appear red.

E.g. in classic uses of red - blood. That's not a use of red. Blood appears red because of the blood cells that contain haemoglobin.

Another aspect to include could be the advancing effect of red in pictures compared with blue. It's to do with chromatic aberration, which I'm sure you can look up.

You might want to mention the dominance of red light in lasers, up until recently.

I'm a little confused by this. You, xwing, have the power to take this out of Peer Review and put it in the Collaborative Writing Workshop if you like -- I can't do that for you.

This entry should perhaps mention the Red Ray, an idea in a eligion/philosophy called Theosophy derived from Hinduism. The red ray is one of seven main creative energies of the cosmos. It is the ray of power and of Shamanism. Ita master is called El Morya and its symbolic gem is the diamond.

I suggest *we* move this to CWW.
