For color blind people, this entry is completely pointless, but for everyone else, it may give you some helpful hints to get through life.

Well, I'm sure some people will disagree with me, but I see a lot of potential in this entry.
There's no precedent that says we can't put blatently obvious stuff into the Guide.
However, it will need some work.
More structure, specifically is my advice. Some ideas-
Recognizing the color red. (more and less are not, I believe, accurate ways of comparing colors)
Classic uses and associations with Red - like the classic idea of luring a bull. In affection, in Valentines Days cards, because the heart is traditionally red. Also the color associated with evil usually - fire is red, Hell is traditionally red, and so forth.
Painting with Red - Red is a primary color, so it can make a lot of other colors. Which colors make which other colors with Red - IE yellow and red make orange.
Good luck with this entry

(thought of another one)
Red is the color of war, as well as the color of Mars - named for the Roman god of war.
I'm not sure if these are helpful at all, but the more information you have in this entry the more likely you are to get some PR support.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I think this is a very lazy entry, and doesn't show any research worth talking about. As a result it doesn't match the <./Writing-Guidelines/.> and stands little chance at this stage in making the Edited Guide. It should be removed from Peer Review until it is more comprehensively re-written.

Hi wing:
I have to agree with Woodpigeon, that this doesn't look like EG material. Mostly because it is wrong in almost every detail.
First: you describe red as 'very unique'. This is both a redundancy and a falsehood. You cannot be more 'unique' than unique. The modifier is pointless; and, there is no particular red that is 'Red'. If you check artists' paints, there are a number of reds. The eye can only determine so much of a variance in light frequency, so even if we were to establish 'A Color Red', we would not be able to tell it from nearby colors.
Second: You say 'Slightly more than orange, but a little bit less than maroon,...' Slightly what? Slightly redder? If so, that is a circular definition.
Third: It takes some of all three primary colors to make the color of 'Pepsi'.
Fourth: There are many towels of looser than usual knits that you can 'see through' regardless of the color of the fibers.
Fifth: Texas is perfectly safe to travel through, if you are a redneck. And, you never justify why wearing red at a farm would be a problem. Red plaid and red bandanas, are prevalent enough, without mishap.
Okay, you must realize that colors (as opposed to dyes and things of a reddish hue) do not emit smells, they merely reflect a limited spectrum portion of white light.
Perhaps this could be smoothed up a bit, and find a welcome home in Alternative Writing Workshop?
Good Luck. I hope you find this a proper home. And, good luck on your next attempt at an EG piece.

I have a foot in both camps. I agree with Jodan that a very good entry could be written about the symbolism and associations of the colour red... as could white and black, and possibly blue.
This certainly isn't it though.

The title of this caught my eye but the content of the piece was a big disappointment. It's an interesting idea and I agree with Jordan that it could be developed into something really rather interesting.
Not only is there no substance to this, it isn't even very well written. A little proof reading might have helped.

I'd love a great collaborative entry on Red or Blue or Black and White, but collaboration doesn't begin through saying a very good entry could be made of this.
Surely you all have seen red and have something to share?

OK, red:
symbol of communism, red flag, little red book
symbol of masculinity and virility - red blooded male,
associations with sex, as in "a little red number",
anger, red rag to a bull,
immediate cessation, as in a stop sign in a traffic light,
emergency, as in a fire engine,
war, as in the colour of Mars,
warmth, associations with fire
danger, as in red ants
fatigue, as in red eyes
embarrassment, red face
good weather, red sky
lunar eclipse, red moon
innocence, little red riding hood
horror, red dragon
'nuff?

"a little red number"
Isn't that 'a little black number' as in, the classic black cocktail dress?
"good weather, red sky" (in the evening)
bad weather, red sky (in the morning)
embarrassment - red-faced
overspent - in the red
overnight plane journey - the redeye
drunk - rednosed
sanguine - cheerful, confident, optimistic
Shouldn't we be doing this somewhere else?

Methinks, Gosho, that Ms. Woodpigeon may have been speaking of something like a red teddy. *sorry about that*
Don't for get red ripe, 'in the red', 'seeing red', 'blood red', (am I repeating previous thoughts?)...

Personally, I'm not completely pleased with the way it turned out, but it is a whole lot better than before. I used some of your suggestions and gave you credit as researchers. Comment on what you think. If you give any suggestions, I will try to change it. I'm
ing, so time for me to go to

Now THERE's a researcher who knows how to take constructive criticism!!
This is actually looking like and entry, all right!
A personal note; the '-overspent: in the red'
format is not consistently used, and looks better than the '-overspent, in the red'
alternative.

Interesting idea, not a bad entry.
Bulls are colour blind - they do not charge because the flag is red, but because it is waving.
Other than that, I have nothing to add.

Oh... Oh... Oh... some more...
Red used to be the colour of the buses and Phone boxes in the UK...
We son't see many of them anymore...
Red is also the colour of Father Christmas...
Well, since Coca Cola changed it that is...

Well I'm trying to update the entry again, but it keeps on telling me "Please do not press this button again." Yeah, so I don't know what to do.

That means that you've already pressed 'Submit entry' and for some reaon - usually a server error somewhere out there on the net - it didn't go through. If you're not already using a text editor such as Wordpad to write this on, and you've still got that window open, the best thing to do is to right click on the text, choose 'Select all', right click again and choose 'Copy', then open a new Wordpad document and paste the entry with its changes into that. Then you can close the window you're using to update the entry, reopen it in another window, hit the 'Edit entry' button, and paste the text back into it. It should work this time when you hit 'Update'
And from now on, use a text editor to work on the entry so that you can keep a copy of it in case the same thing happens.

Much better
If I may nitpick, rednecks aren't exclusive to Texas. There are rednecks in all corners of the world - and definitely in every state of the US. Texas has plenty of them, but you'll find them all throughout the south.
The 'Red shift' is a term in astrology referring to when (I think) an object is moving away from you, and when looking at it in a spectroscope the normal colors are shifted to the red end of the spectrum.
