A Conversation for Tibet - Why the Chinese are There

dear majortso:
i donot know what is your "non-chinese "mean. China officially describes itself as a multi-ethnic unitary state and as such officially recognizes 56 nationalities . the Han being the majority (>92%), and the remaining 55 nationalities being the national minorities
i am Manchu which is one of the 56 nationalities in China.Being minorities living in China,we can enjoy many benefits that han-Chinese never have.I also classify myself as a member of Chinese just like other minorities do.
it is inappropriate to classify the tibet as "colonialism",because this issure is too complicated.
In tibet society, it is forbidden for monks to marry. If you talk about basic rights ,i think their humen right have been trampled. Also, dalai lama was been collected as spiritual Leader from childhood, having no other choice .i think his basic rights have been trampled ,because everyone have their right to chose what he want to do in their life.
These years, the condition of tibet have been improved a lot. However, exile government of Tibetans still describe tibet as hell for their aim.i strongly against it.
sometimes ,"freedom" is just a word played by rulers.

Haven't you been conditioned to unconditionally accept whatever your government says, in a Pavlovian sense? Haven't your rights been trampled so?
We in the west are sick and tired of you chinese speaking about Tibet is being "complicated". You made it complicated by stealing it. Tibet under china is a colony, case closed!
We in the west are also sick of your saying that life has improved. You have plundered the natural resources of Tibet for chinese good, you have packed Tibet with non-Tibetan chinese, you have tried to destroy Tibetan culture, you coddle tinpot dictatorships elsewhere, you foment maoist insurgencies in other sovereign countries, you sell poison to the west, ... Would you like us to continue with the littany of misdeeds? Are you really proud to be chinese in china?

what is the word "you"mean?me?Chinese people?Chinese goverment?i am so confused.
we hate maoist more than you because we know how horror it is;
were you ever fighting for freedom in the shadow of dictatorships?
were you ever struglling for your right under the political pressure?
you know nothing about it.
"Tibet under china is a colony, case closed!"
dear,it seams that you live in so called country without free talk ,roughly treating different opinions, not me.
you are childishly thinking "your enemies 'enemies are your friends."
you ,a persion who live in the so called "free countries" treat people who have different opinions about tibet as enemies of freedom and the slaves of
dictators, without respecting other's opinions, without knowing the true condition of tibet now ,without learning the history of China.
" We in the west are also sick of your saying that life has improved"
why?you are sick just besause our life has improved??
also, dear,do you have right to represent all people in the west?
Tibet is being complicated and you know nothing about it except the propaganda from exile government .

I meant we are sick of the chinese supporters saying here over and over, like broken records, that life in china is good.
It is fine for the chinese to make the trade between freedom and good life for themselves. But imposing it on foreigners, Tibetans and Uighurs, is something else.
Some may feel happy for the caged animals at a zoo, but not me. It is far more pleasing to see the same animals roam in the wild.
I do hope some day the chinese people will be as free as we are. But I hope the Tibetans will be free sooner.

TO the frank.sometimes i also think if independence is better for han-Chinese and Tibetans,ok.i vote for independence.also, if so called "one China" is better for han-Chinese and Tibetans,ok i agree with it.
maybe tibet is not complicated, instead,The real complicated thing is politics.
i think in the future,we will find a good way accepted by both sides to solve the Tibet problem.

I am glad that you are open minded enough to voice your views. It is important that every one be entitled to their views, and be able to express them without fear of retribution.
For an ethnically diverse population as china, the only long term solution is democracy where everyone has the guaranteed right to express his/her opinions freely.
If the Tibetans freely agree to be a part of china, it can only strengthen china, not weaken it.
However, the current regime is so paranoid and suffers from an inferiority complex that in its opinion the only way to hang on to its possessions is to wield its power to trample on anyone who dares to disagree.
>maybe tibet is not complicated, instead,The real complicated thing is >politics.
Yes, it is the chinese politics that is complicated. What complicates it is the paranoia of the current regime.
> think in the future,we will find a good way accepted by both sides >to solve the Tibet problem.
I am sure the rest of the world thinks so. Tibet is just the tip of the iceberg. The real problems of china will be solved only when there is democracy, and peace with its neighbours, old and new.
