Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

I know I shouldn't, but sometimes I can't help it. Underneath this ASCII-based grammatically correct exterior beats the heart of a very passionate and caring person. One thing I am passionate about and care about a lot is h2g2. I want this place to thrive and become what it always promised to be.

And when someone trolls here they are smiley - bleeping all over something I care about. I accept that some of the trolls are merely human beings being flawed as only human beings can be (and I'm sure I've said things here that can be seen as trolling) but some are simply disruptive for the sake of it. There are those - some still here, some now departed - who are disruptive from day one... but are always so, so quick to play the victim when anybody calls them up on it. It makes me sad that these people have to be here, on one of my favourite places on the web.

This is where I promise to try and not feed the trolls any more, and to simply hit the Yikes button when I feel they are really disrupting things.

Naughty Boy! No smiley - cake for you tonight.

I wonder why fkf is so concerned about LW when they didn't join hootoo until 2010, long after poor LW was deceased smiley - rose

Also, fkf needs to check their facts. I was still a newbie when all this kicked off, and I was trying to calm things down. Obviously my tag will have changed in the threads.

I have no idea what Hell's going on there, frankly... as you say she started after the whole thing was done and dusted so must have gone looking for it deliberately, because there's no way she remembered it from the first time 'round (and certainly cannot be any judge of people's thoughts or behaviour because she wasn't there, man!).

For some reason she's got it into her head that those involved need to be held accountable... I seem to remember a lot of pre-mods being dished out at the time, so I'm pretty sure that anyone who does need to be held accountable already has been. smiley - sigh And in my opinion the point about MB trolling LWs PS is invalid because LW could easily have Yikes'd it, but chose to bite instead.

Mr D,

Some of us tried to explain to LW that he could unsub from those threads, but he didn't seem to understand what was being said, nor did he want to yikes.

His medication made him very irratic, which is why he would 'toe the line' for a short time, then revert to norm later smiley - erm

Yeah, I do remember something being mentioned about his meds now...

Either way, it's in the past... most of those involved have moved on both literally and figuratively. I've said my piece and it's clear fkf has a problem with MB *anyway*.

That should be 'either' instead of 'both'.

Because I'm a nosey so-and-so I actually found the message where MB trolled her so hurtfully.

It was him telling her that she shouldn't presume to dictate how h2g2 should be run so soon after joining! smiley - rofl

Poor thing...

I was thought to be a stalker, when I'd only been online for 2 weeks smiley - cry. That did not amuse daughter Vicki Virago!

So I ran back to the safety of Odo's Journals - she married MB a few years later smiley - magic

Then I came out again to find Serephina and adopted her as my Hootoo daughter smiley - biggrin

Witty Moniker

While I can get annoyed at certain behaviors I see on this site, I don't have too much trouble hitting my personal ignore button, if not actually unsubscribing from those threads. Particularly when I'm fairly certain the entity in question clearly cannot help themselves. Frankly, I'm more annoyed by those that feed the trolls. Whether deliberate trolling or a manifestation of some possible personality disorder, responding to it almost always does nothing to improve the behavior.

There was one researcher that got under my skin, though. Oetzi . But I managed to find a way to deal with him, too.

I have a personal 'ignore' button, too. I have to say it is very worn by now. though, as the trolls have bee all over h2g2 recently. I wish they'd creep back to where they hid until now.

Indeed, Mr D, I can understand the annoyance. Some times and things, though dusky and diry at a time, have settled into a past. For a couple of folks to make a present-day crusade just seems tired.

But hey, you have that new and smiley - erm job until one that is a better fit comes along. There's an up-shot to things! smiley - cheers

My personal ignore button is very well worn, too. I love h2g2. Those researchers I've been fortunate enough to meet in person have all been great.I can't think of a single one that I didn't find cordial and welcoming. I also have some dear friends here from the salon and long-term e-mails. I refuse to embroil myself in unpleasantness. Being a member of this site is voluntary. I want the experience to be pleasant, not a cause for extra stress. I have enough of that elsewhere. So I try to avoid arguments and unkind remarks.

Oh, so you aren't coming to visit in September then? You know them cats, always bickering at each other. But still, you have a well furnished room with a solid door ...

Unfortunately I don't seem to have an internal ignore button... I let things get to me, and then they prey on my mind until I have to say something.

It's been better since I've been an ACE though, because the whole thing about setting a good example has given me a reason to walk way (or at least respond politely after thinking it through).

Trying to set the good example must always be hard. I have been there, and I have praised the efforts of ACE's in one thread or other. But there is always the understanding ... Everyone is human, will have a tender spot. All you can do, Mr D, is be the best you can.

If someone becomes more than your patience and tolerance can deal with, that's why you have back-up. 3, 4, sometimes as many as 8, other ACE's in a given time

I have offered myself in anyway that the developing community might use me. I know my patience, my tolerance, and I know atleast 8 or 9 folks who can push my buttons far too easily. And have made it clear that I would step aside from concerns with these folks because I know that I cannot stay cool and calm.

Step back a bit, breathe, decide if this is a thread, or that one, that you can be helpful in
