I too would like to apply to become a sub-editor. If there's an application or such please e-mail Me at [email protected]. Thanks and pack a lunch, it's going to be a long ride!

I'm noting all interested parties down and will scan your pages to see how good your writing style is. This is primarily a journalistic job, after all.
More news soon.

I would like to NOT apply for the job of sub-editor, but I would like permission to cite this site as a "personal reference" when applying for any high-paying job I don't intend to actually get. The question is, would you be willing to say that you've known me for 5 - 15 years?
Actually, I just wanted to throw some kudos at the editors and assistant-sub-almost editors for keeping this site entertaining and the sort of place one risks one's employment to keep showing up and posting at. I personally wouldn't entrust my delicate submissions to anyone other than Spartus. I know that he is capable of handling dry-clean-only subjects gently and easily. I have no personal working knowledge of his spin cycle, but word gets around.
*sheepish grin* Ok. Really, things are just fantastically slow at work today. Please ignore this drivel.

I would also like to become a sub-editor; note that I even have five entries in the guide already! And an amazing sense of humour, a really impressive grasp of grammar, and a PC (one of these is true).
I actually thought of a system like this being implemented a while back... I'm sure there's a conversation somewhere that I started about the possibility of a hierarchical system... when you get x entries accepted you become sub-editor, when you edit x entries successfully you become something else, etc, etc, etc. *Shrug* it could work.

Wow, a positive recommendation already and I haven't even gotten an (sub-) edited entry in just yet. Thanks, Krissy dear.
And my spin cycle is just fine, thanks.

I will tell you now, my postings do not really hold style.
If you wish to see if I could do the job, then look at the critic I've done on the article for Parenthood. That was done as a sort of 'is this what we're after?' when the field critic idea was still floating about.
If you think that's what you're looking for then give me the posistion, if not tell me why.
In my favour,
I'm currently unemployed and therefore have a LOT if time on my hands.
I've read a LOT. My personal book collection is well over a thousand books. I read the newspapers every day. Basically I read. I know what I like to read. And those I that I don't I can point out why.
I would say that the people already roope in are more than suitable, I've met Dancing Tree and I know he's a good bloke.
I don't have formal qualifications but as anyone that has met me can testify, I talk a LOT. I socialise, I mix. I'm able to get people to talk about things, but above all I like to help. Check out my forum entries to back that up.
How much do I have to say to get the position?
Let me know, PLEASE.
no love, I tell you!
Kate Posted Aug 5, 1999
Hey!!! I was the first one to go on and on about how great your swing dancing article was! Doesn't that count for something?!? By the way, how are you? It's been ages!
Best,
Kate

I think it makes it easier to develop an identity- which really helps one to get noticed - if you pick a name, rather than just use your researcher number. Create a name for yourself!

How on earth could I have forgotten you?
Please accept my most humble apologies, bow, scrape, grovel, beg.

What's this, devolution? It'll never work. You should be taking up your scythe of desperation and hacking away anything that wasn't penned by me. It's the only way, you mark my words.
Wait though, you mean I could be a sub-editor too? Cheers of adulation, rose petals strewn before my pampered feet, nubile young wenches rolling my cigs and brewing my coffee. Ah, I can taste it now.
Y'know, you might be onto something here, so if you find yourselves wanting on the subby front, just point me at your backlog and turn me loose.
I'll leave you to pore over the backlog of people offering to pore over the backlog of submissions.
Kitty!

*love love love* See, the thing is, I consider you a web-goddess. You have helped create the Spartus we know today, and I am using him as a worthy intermediary to approach your radient beauty, grace, and dazzling talent.
Now that I have found you again after so long...how you doin' hon!? I have been keeping tabs on the move(s). You poor thing. I'm looking at a probable move here in a few months. I hate moving.
Are you enjoying Boston so far? Life is nuts for me right now. I'm going to have to quit doing stuff so that I can hang out with you guys. I'm on during the day when no one else is and then off when you are all being clever and amusing. If Spartus didn't have a working copy of everything that ever went on here, I don't know when I'd get a chance to laugh. *sniffle* I miss you all.
*more love love love*
It's a well known fact that no one can ever forget about Kate.

I *would* choose a name for myself... *but* there are two reasons why I don't. In fact, make that three. Firstly, I think 26199 is a nice number. Sad, possibly deranged, I know, but true. Secondly, I would like my work to get noticed purely because of its content - it's a form of anonymity, if you like. And thirdly.... I can't think of any interesting names.
So there you have it, I'm still called Researcher 26199 - and I'm proud of it!

I agree. Pastey (the male half) talks a LOT. But he is better at rounders than I am.
Hi Peta and Dancing Tree. Nice to know that the PTB have good taste in sub-editors.

How I hit those balls was a sheer fluke.
Perhaps they heard me talking and were just trying to get out of earshot.
