Policy Question
shagbark Started conversation Jul 10, 2009
I have seen at various times that h2g2 has a policy dealing with UK elections, but what about elections in other countries?
Will someone get moderated here for taking a side in the Iranian election, what about local elections in the US. Four weeks from now Lansing MI will narrow the field for mayor from
four candidates to two. Am I prohibited from campaigning here?

The BBC has a legal obligation during UK elections. It has no such obligation for non-UK elections. However, this isn't a campaigning site, so you'd probably be better off not campaigning here (although you're more than welcome to engage other Researchers in a lively discussion on the elections).

glad to see someone finally responded (even if it wasn't an italic)

In the We didn't start the fire article A2640070 it says
The fact that the voting result was against both popular and press opinion left many people wondering who on Earth actually did vote for him.
This may be the case in Lansing politics 2009
Mayor Virgil Bernero has alienated a lot of people but has the media solidly behind him. He has even gone on CNN and earned the nickname Americas angriest mayor.
Yet The only reason he will probably win the primary is that
his opponents Charles Ford and Carol Wood are both strong candidates.
When he has to face only one of them in November watch out
His autocratic godfather like rule over Lansing is going to come to an end.

Smij was an italic. There's a badge on his PS saying "Former Staff". He was known for a long time as Jimster, but changed his name to Smij shortly before he left his job. He used to be a very active poster.
TRiG.

I would rather hear from current staff rather than former staff.
Also note Virgil Bernero won the job of Lansing Mayor and promptly turned around and announced that he is now a candidate for Michigan Governor.
some of us would vote for him next November just to get him out of the Mayor's chair.

Here is a wiki page on the man who wants to be Michigan's next Governor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgil_Bernero
Term limits prevent the current Governor from keeping the seat.
Policy Question
Smij - Formerly Jimster Posted Feb 11, 2010
Hi Shagbark - the only reason I posted back then was that I was very much involved in securing election discussions for h2g2 during the last election. I have no idea what the policy is this year though, so I'm unsubscribing from this conversation.

Since this is an old thread perhaps nobody is subscribed to it.
I will give it a day or two and then if no response I will also unsubscribe.
