A light house.

No neighbours, no cars, no crevasses to try and fit carpet into, sea view.

Mine would be decorated in a very luxuriant eastern design featuring lots of deep red cushions and wall hangings.

Light exterior, dark interior.

Only problem; round walls on the inside- that'd be fun to try and wallpaper!

You could be really mean and turn off the light on long boring evenings. only problem may be the ship crashing into your home, but it would liven things up a bit.

What do you mean by eastern design?

Well it's my notion of eastern design so probably not very accurate ... deep earthy colours (especially reds), floor cushions, soft silks, cashmere, rugs, teak furniture, gold braiding here and there ... erm ... insense burning.

Bohemian / hippy heaven I suppose!

Have you ever watched the films 'Gone with the Wind' or 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown'?

Both women seem to share your taste in decorating smiley - biggrin

Although I think a light-house should have a least a bit of a nautical flair! Perhaps something from the voyages of Sinbad? smiley - bigeyes

But it is your dream house.

I wonder how much it costs to buy a lighthouse.
Do you have to have training/certifications to operate it??? And if not how much does it cost to get it deactivated?
But mainly I wonder how much does it cost to buy a lighthouse?

In the USA anyway it is not all that easy for a private citizen to get a lighthouse. They are usually first offered to the state or a historical society. Sometimes the state will give them to a non-profit organization. If none of these places want the lighthouse...then the highest bidder gets it.
