h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Yes, I know others have already written their journals about the Hull Meet. Now it's MY turn..


Woke up on Saturday morning feeling fine.. finished off all preparations and then started to get ready.. Panic Attack!

I told myself, you are meeting friends .. Panic Attack!

Dad rang: "Are you getting the flowers for your Mum this week?" (It should have been last week, but Dad said it wasn't time for fresh yet)

Me: "Errr.. Yeah, okay. I will do them before we go"

Dad: "If you go to 'G'Dale, you will see those nice ones she likes"

Me: "I will try Dad, if we have time"

Aaaanywa'ay! We eventually set off, only an hour late! Hubby says, "We can't go to 'G'Dale as they are 40 mins in the opposite direction"... Panic Attack!

Me: "Never mind, go to 'B'Dam instead"

Got some nice flowers, visited Mum.. Washed her face (headstone).. and set off!

We collected Prof. Animal Chaos from Pontefract and made our way to Hull without any real complications.. I yam a good navigator

Books into the hotel, meeting Galaxy Babe at the reception desk. Once in our room, I text everyone to let them know "we are here"...

Text received: "We are in the Bar!".. Now why didn't that surprise me?

Next, text from Moonhogg: "God help Hull!"

Refreshed myself.. Panic Attack!! .. This is ridiculous, my hair now looks like I have just washed it.. It's saturated!

Aaanywa'ay! We went through to the bar to find Mazing Mad Fiddler, Prof Animal Chaos, Jollywinegums, Scorpio, Aquatic Megastar, Galaxy Babe and ST, all waiting for us.. LATE AGAIN!!

I received a lovely surprise. It was my RL birthday at the beginning of the week and little gifts and cards were passed across to me

I received what must now seem to be the compulsory bottles of Chardonnay from the Prof and ST.. *hic*

MMF was very clever! He organised for Rob the Carpet and Matt the Matt to attend too! *strokes Matt's pile*

The Prof even managed to find a Matt with a fringe!

In the meantime, the Prof was inflating Ivan .. I won't go into detail, you will see what I mean when you look at the pics.. As usual, the Prof stole the show, when a young lady couldn't believe her eyes .. "Don't worry, we're just good friends!" said the Prof

Just minutes later, the Moonhogg family arrived!

What a wonderful family! Mrs Moonhogg, Kitty and Cheeky Monkey are now "Affiliaa'ated" members of Hootoo!

We had a mini-quiz and we all won badges! Including the "Affiliaa'ated" members! Yay!!

All too soon, the Moonhogg family had to leave, taking the little ones to their babysitters for the night. Mr and Mrs Moonhogg returned for our planned meal and a night of and .. Indeed, we all became a little squiffy! *hic*

Warning!! Never trust Hoggy with a camera! He's worse than MMF!!

The evening just seemed to fly.. It was so enjoyable. Everyone was so relaxed in each other's company. Fantastic!

We made our 'goodbyes' and 'goodnights' at the end, making our way to our room.

The next morning, I couldn't keep my eyes open! No! I didn't have a ! I was just tired

Received a text from Hoggy: "I've got a headache!".. Poor Hoggy!!

We all met up again at midday. Kitty and Cheeky Monkey had made me a card each, thanking me for coming to see them.. (lovely children)

Oft we all went to The Deep and spent what must have been the most enthralling 4 hours looking at the exhibits and chatting to each other on the way round!

Sadly, as always, a Meet has to come to an end .. Mrs Moonhogg did us the honour of taking group photo's on individual cameras.. and a marvelous job she did too, even if her brolly did turn rogue and attempt to bop her on the nose We began to say our goodbyes... Jollywinegums had arranged to take MMF to the station for his train. Galaxy Babe made her way across the bridge and home. ST took the Moonhogg family back to the hotel to collect their car. We took Scorpio for the same reason. More goodbyes were said, then we departed taking the Prof home on our way...

One thing is certain.. We WILL be having another Meet in Hull!!!

Sorry love, we didn't advertise it properly as it was experimental.. We are hoping it could become an annual event.. and Yes, we will contact you next time..
