Does anybody want some empty boxes?

Post 1

Ivan the Terribly Average

As the title suggests - yes, I've moved into the new house. smiley - biggrin I've unpacked everything; now there's just the fun of putting about 2000 books into exactly the right places.

I also have to offload the old house. I'm still responsible for it until Friday; I'll be there tomorrow, fiddling about in the garden and clearing the garage.

This is really just a quick note to assure enquiring minds that I am still alive, if somewhat tired.

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

Bonfire!!! smiley - dragon

Can I say that to an Aussie?

Sounds like things have gone well smiley - smiley

Yes, you can say it - it's just that you'll get a horrified look in return. smiley - silly

Things have gone extremely well. The lounge suite was delivered as specified, the removalists were on time and super-efficient, and nothing got broken. This is worth mentioning as I packed everything and I'm not usually very good at it.

I'm not bad at packing but sometimes I do some dumb things. When K moved in here, I had a fairly large box that I filled with an entire CD rack's worth of CDs. It didn't occur to me it'd be too heavy to lug up all 60-odd stairs...

Glad to hear you're unpacked and your furniture arrived on time. Can't wait to see the place!

Thanks, but I've got quite a few of them myself. Those are mostly in use though, since the hatchlings tend to live quite ambulatory lives.

Guess you could sell them. There must be more people than you in the neighbourhood moving houses.

I've decided to keep the boxes in the garage; next time one of my friends moves house they can take the boxes on a no-return basis. There's plenty of other packing material up for grabs too, but I can use some of that as mulch.

I have about two-thirds of the books in their proper places now. The rest will take longer as I have to sort out other things before I can get near the bookshelves.

The main thing is that this place already feels like home. smiley - cool

Oh, about the plants. No, I'm not bringing any from the old place. Frankly, it's just as easy to get new ones from the nursery. I've never propagated native plants from cuttings and this probably isn't a good time to learn how as my mind is all over the place.

Thanks Ivan, I just wondered. A new start will be nice, and you never know your old plants might just hop over the fence as they do here smiley - biggrin

smiley - applause glad it is starting to feel like home.

I have officially finished moving ou of the old place, inasmuch as I've finished tidying the garden and cleared the garage. smiley - zen I'm still responsible for the place until lunchtime Friday, but that's a minor detail. After that I can just retreat into this house, lower the portcullis and see what the next few decades bring. smiley - biggrin
