EARTH HOUR 2009
Websailor Started conversation Mar 27, 2009
Are you going to join the Global movement on 28th March 2009 by switching off lights and unnecessary appliances for just one hour? Show your support for the fight against climate change, waste and many other environmental issues.
One hour - that's all, it's not such a sacrifice, and it might just remind us how much we take for granted in the developed world.
If you feel a bit and 'alone' in doing this, then take a look here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CRs-7lRlPo
see how it has grown, and join the millions of people who are making an impact with this one small thing. It shows just what can be achieved when we work together.
Come and join us.

Hi WS and co ,I did read this last night just after Milla posted and have been trying to work out what /when to turn off everything,I think it means 8:30 pm local time (you tube for me comes up written in Japanese not english) not english time, but I have decided to go with english time as that will be the easiest for us 5:30 am, I don't mind taking my 9 pm bath in candlelight quite nice really but I can't watch the Japan v Bahrain 7 till 9 pm soccer game by candlelight, also I will not turn off the 3 fish tank /pond pumps I use, When I go to bed I will try to turn off everything else that is possible to turn off .
I have heard of this happening the other times but it was always after the event , nice to hear it before so I can get a bit involved

I think I'll be reading by candlelight in a little more than an hour from now. A glass of port will add to the nineteenth-century ambiance.

hour. Moonraker, can you not choose your language on YouTube? Have a look.
Nice to see people participating, or even thinking about it. Anyone with reservations should consider that it will at least save them some money with the cost of electric these days.
In fact, I am seriously considering a 'do without hour' once a week I love candles and open fires, and I have a wind up radio and wind up torches so it could be a very nice peaceful rest once a week.

It's a great idea, and with it being a global event, even makes it more special.

Back online...
I lit some candles, dug out my acoustic guitar and wrote the beginnings of a song for my parents Golden Anniversary.
