h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

On a holiday in Sri Lanka, my friend (a Lankan) stopped the car at the roadside and said "Look, durian fruit. You must try one." When we got a whole one in the car I looked at it being as it's a hefty fruit and it stank of sh-t yes, it really smelled as if someone had evacuated their bowels on the seat next to me. My friend gave it back to the vendor who promptly cut it open with a large knife and handed the flesh and seed back to me. I rather reluctantly popped some into my mouth and was completely amazed by its unique wonderful taste which I can't begin to describe. I still can't get over the complete mis-match between the awful smell and the actual really delicious taste.
