Oops, I'm Doing It Too
Leo Started conversation Dec 25, 2007
Haven't been on in almost a week. Maybe a full week. It's odd. I've seen people drift in and out, but never thought I'd do it myself.
I'm busy, that's true. If I ever thought I was busy before, it was nothing compared to now. Transferring colleges, looking for a summer internship, writing personal statements for pocket money, applying for scholarships, trying to pass a college programming course given by an apparently non-existent professor, working on a business venture, and writing term papers. There are stacks of books for an entry on Pecos Bill next to my bed, untouched for weeks. No time for casual reading.
But it's also that there are fewer and fewer conversations that draw me back. There are no threads I come rushing in to check. A few friends with active journals have disappeared. Right now h2g2 is just a place for writing and reviewing, and I don't have time for either.
I'm not handing in my badges - that's too final. I'm still here and if I've got a spare half hour I'd love to spend it reviewing or subbing an entry. I'm still here, but temporarily out to lunch.
See ya around, sometime.

I've been busy as well, Leo, and only have time to read a few threads and review a few entries now and again, and I don't leave either.
with all your projects.
I wish you a better new year.
(Even good years have room for improvement, right?)

Yes, my situation is almost exactly the same as yours Le0o, albeit fore diffewrent reasons. RL isa in the way of me writingor reviewing Entries and, similarly to yourself, there are few convo. threads that draw me
back.
Anyway in 2008.

I think we all go through cyclical stages, Leo - some weeks I'll review everything in PR, some weeks I'm just too disinterested to even log in. Real life always comes first, and circumstances change, but I think most of us would miss h2g2 unless we'd had a big row with it.
Sometimes, being here is a very good release. I'm not trying to push you in any direction, of course, but if I'm feeling stifled by the EG I'll write something for The Post. That's where my occasional TV column came from; trying to express my frustration with sitting in front of the TV and wanting to find an outlet for my anger.
The thing is, h2g2 is the only place where I can do that. I can be serious and well-researched in an EG Entry. I can be opinionated and ill-informed in a Post column. I can explain my personal experiences in my journal. If I'm feeling mind-blowingly creative, I can AViate a clip or two. And if I don't really want to be involved, I don't have to be. I don't need to be tetchy or philosophical about the whole idea any more; I just enjoy it when I want to. I think - and I hope - that this is just a part of a cycle for you as well.
Personally, I really enjoy your company and your friendship, and I really hope you'll be around for a long time to come.

*nods emphatically*
I have also been flitting in and out, mainly because I am still waiting for RL to release it stranglehold on me but also because my attention tends to waver. I am now over 2 years on hootoo - but not all at once. Go, Leo, be free, but we reserve the right to yank your chain when we miss you
*waves elegantly at the departing train*
(well ok, not *that* elegantly... *parp* )

hullo Leo .... wondered where you had gone .. see ... <> even though I understand your need to stray from the fold .. or the unfold ... and reinvent ...
'tis a funny mysterious place this h2g2 ... I find it hard to leave, even though I'm not as involved with the site as you guys are ... I have tried to leave about 25 (and a half) times ..
<>> .... ....
funny you said that, Skankyrich .. I just did have a big row with it ... (wink wink ... ...erm .. its OK now .... ahem) and still find that I veered away from an h2-divorce at the eleventh hour, and want to lurk like a spider in my niche a while longer ..
thanks h2g2 .. is it that there is no place like you ? I know not ..
hope you had a splendid and cool non-Yule, Leo .... .. send us a postcard, if you find a new land beyond this land ... I'll come and join you ...
OK I won't then ..

You are so busy that I had to take a nap after reading all the things you listed.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say it's great enormous fun having you around, so eat lunch, don't swim for at least an hour, and come right back.

Thanks all!
I shall... be back! Nyahahahaa!
And there's no way I'm returning those Pecos Bill books to the library, so I'm sure I'll be around intermittently.

Fun, Opti?
*thinks on it a bit*
Hm. Could be. Indeed, some of it might be quite fun. But why is fun so much work?
