h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Over the years we have accumulated a fair old catalogue of Petty Hates. I was looking at H2G2 this morning at a couple of the newer ones here and at the same time The Lovely Weather Lady came on screen and told me what weather to expect today and over the next few days. She was so lovely, that I still have no idea what the weather is going to be like over the next few days.

This isn't quite the resurection of the old 'Little Activities That Are Strangely Pleasurable' thread.

So I give you the antidote to petty hates (because we are a positive lot round here aren't we).

The meerkat toy I receive through post today. It bring moment of much joy on arrival at household, having had many journeyings since leave Meerkovo.

Youngest son love toy. Eldest son attempt to copy father's Meerkovan accent. He chip off old block.

I like to see cranes moving stuff, I see lots of cranes but usually they are not doing anything. There is a new building site nearby with a crane I get a feeling of anticipation going round the corner and the crane comes in sight.

Mostly it is not doing anything but twice it has been shifting stuff

I sulk a little if on my return journey the crane has moved and I have missed it

Where IS that "little things that are strangely pleasurable" thread? I was looking for it the other day but haven't found it yet.

I ought to add a petty like while I'm here: When the car finally heats up on a cold day and you got into it jibbering with cold.

Diet Pepsi.

A freshly laundered bath mat. I'll carefully manouvre round it just so that I can get out of the shower straight onto a lovely crisp clean one.

Not really like TC jibbering with cold, but snuggling under the duvet and feeling it warm up around me

There has just been some gentle rain here after what seems like months of ground baking heat.

I just stood naked in my garden in the dark and got wet.

I can recommend it.

Clouds. Whether it's a horrible baking day or a bright cold winter's day, when clouds cover the sun I'm happy.

Opening my wallet, expecting a £20 to be in there, and finding 2 of them

and thinking i'm seeing "petty hates"
and then realising its "petty likes"!

I go to bed at night looking forward to this moment when I am sitting up in bed in the morning with a cup of tea.

At what age is it appropriate to buy a teasmaid?

So - you get up, go to the kitchen, make your tea and take it back to bed with you?

I must try that.

Er - taking it back to bed with me. Not with you.

Couldn't you just do yourself a tray like in a B+B?

I knew someone who did this and had biscuits.

I think the time for a teasmaid or a tray, is when the stairs are a bind.
