I entered a competition last week to win free tickets to a gig at Taylor John's in Coventry, and I won!

Unfortunately, the email notification arrived in my in-box the day after the gig

Are they offering you anything instead, given it was their screw-up?

I think they sent the email in good time, just a combination of my crappy internet connection and my own stupidity led to me not knowing until it was too late.

But that just seems to be my luck- I won a writing competition at junior school, and I've had a couple of £10.00 wins on the lottery, and that's about it. Although I did win the hand of a fair maid, so it's not all bad luck...

I won a years supply of shampoo and conditioner, really quite a few years ago now. I still have no recolection of entering any such competition though...oh, actually more recently I won the trophy for ten pin bowling, two years on the trott, but no real 'prize' with that, just the accalade... oh, and I won three awards in a music remix contest, and am supposed to be having the remix released on an album as a result, but the organises are so disorganised I just can't see it happening myself... sadly, again, no cash or other proper* prize to go with it though

Oh I see. Still a disappointment, but hey, these things happen.

Actually, I did win a 'free' trip to Dublin once, but once I discovered how much I would have to pay to take advantage of this I decided it wasn't really that free at all!

I once won 3 prizes on tombola tickets. I was so embarrassed that I collected one prize and sent my daughters up for the other two

We managed to fail to either win, get the booby prize for being last, or win the raffle.

It didn't help there was an entire section on 'Entertainment' where we failed to know a single answer.

Striking competition, last Saturday.

Amazing how many 'free trips' ending up costing quite a bit of money! Once you've added in the extortionate travel insurance you'd be better off booking the whole thing yourself and save a packet.

Bowling- oh, yes, I was on the winning team for our works event and also got top bowler. The 'prize' was a nodding trophy which sits proudly...... in my drawer!! I really shouldn't be so ungrateful

I only ever enter the odd raffle or competition at work so that may be why my wins are so few and far between. Perhaps I should broaden my horizons a little. I did enter a draw to win a rather nice guitar, but realised afterwards if I had won the import taxes alone would have set me back several hundred pounds, so I was wishing desperately not to get picked !!

I entered a competition many years ago in one of those wimmins mags (Bella, Chat, that kind of thing) It wasn't mine, just hanging around the office, honest guv. I won, I got the Complete Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy on cassette, read by DNA himself. I've still got it and, more importantly, the means to play it.

I think most recently would probably have been a laptop, can't think of anything else at the minute.

I won a bottle of wine in a raffle a few years ago.

I don't drink wine, so it ended up being given to my Father in Law.

Who had originally given it away for use as a raffle prize!

I was the winner in a "Crime/thriller books and Tea Sweepstake".
The parcels have been arriving for the last week or two.

Also, not long ago, I won a cap at an envelope lottery thing. (you know, where the prizes are given a number, and there are envelopes with the numbers, and whatever number is in your envelope, you win the prize that corresponds to it). In the same lottery, my mum got a purple woolly hat with reindeer horns.
