h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

You spend some of your spare time scribbling words down that slowly turn to lines of words and then you fiddle some more and in amongst all the scribbles you think you see a story.

You come back to it time and time again; I little deletion here, a little addition there...hmm, perhaps a full stop or maybe a comma?

Months later you have a little poem down on paper, you keep going back to it over and over again wondering about a problem word.

More months slip by and you decide to take a chance and put it up for inspection by your peers and after some comments, a little bit of tinkering, you sit back and smile inwardly and enjoy the sight of your little bunch of words in a public space.

Many months later and a kind word or two and you find your work on the...(wait for it)..FRONT PAGE of HooToo!

How goods that then? It's , really really.

I don't want you to think I just posted to bump a bit of interest in my piece, that's why I didn't link to it.
I just wanted to say, (well exactly what I said) thanks and I hope if anyone who reads this who hasn't popped something they've written into the Guide for peer review or into the AWW: Then do so now!

You'll feel all tingly and you'll get that slightly embarrassed feeling that someones watching you because your smiling for no apparent reason (you'll swivel round in your chair just to make sure )once the things off your computer and out in the labyrinthine halls of HooToo where all kinds of people hang out and some *will* read your *stuff* and they'll actualy tell you about it!

I've thought about that too Mal, but was a bit hesitant about putting my toe in the water so to speak (that would make an interesting smiley wouldn't it)

Aaaagh, still to early to mention new smileys

(Those are the one thing I did for hootoo that I didn't get a buzz out of )

Oh yes, it's all fun and games at first, isn't it?

But after the first few Entries, that buzz starts to fade - and then you start doing photos for a few Entries, probably your own at first, after all, where's the harm in that? And it feels so good...

And before you know it, you're listing all your Entries on your Personal Space, and hankering after Badges and nominations for Entry of the Month. After that, it's all downhill into a spiral of creativity, learning and the constant threat of employment by the BBC.
