I hate it when a forum dies. You know how it happens. People stop posting so often, they've got other, funnier, more exciting ones to post to. Slowly but surely forums begin to fade away. Eventually, they come close to blinking out of existence altogether, and they gain a tag of "last posting 6 weeks ago". But a forum never truly dies. The memory of it always lives on.
So, I've got a proposal for helping out all those comatose forums out there. They need our help, so I'm setting up the h2g2 Dead Forum Revival Unit, or something like that. Who's with me? Together, we can revive all of those dead forums and make them heard all over this site.
Who's with me...?
No one?
Anyone?
Please?

Abi that's alright for you you're opening paragraph talks about casting aside all those personas of your. Have some heart for those of us who would have 900 or so dead forums on our pages. I don't want their ghosts haunting my page I'm having enough problems keeping tabs on my articles at present.

Me too. Its the (1 post, latest 13 weeks ago) which have started to bother me.... I try soo hard never to post in "ask the h2g2 community" because I always loose the plot... and the thread lasts for ages and ages.... but sometimes I can't resist the temptation.

Aye and sometimes somebody like me just scans the full list to see if anything I know about has been asked about to add another 1 post X weeks ago.

Couldn't we just pour some chicken blood on them and chant?

If it works for computers it nust for forums.... Unless it is a fora that has grown sooo large that it crashes your browser. That seems a common way for fora to die. But get the chickens out just in case

Maybe you need some for your keyboard too, if your misspelled post is any indication.

Dang! It posted before I was done. Time to exorcise my browser...

10 hours at the keyboard have something to do with that mis-spelled post. It has been a long day.

Yeah, usually you can spell. But excorcising your keyboard might still be fun. Especially if you do it at work, and make sure your co-workers are watching. It's just the sort of thing that will gaurentee that you are left alone.

I'm doing that right now. Reviving old forums. My own, mind you.
Suppose we could go to peoples homepages, pick out a forum that interests us, and continue discussion. I did that in a South Park forum, "last post 13 weeks ago". Now, it's "last post two days ago", cos one of the posters came back to talk to me about SP
So, you CAN make a difference. Yeah!

Yeah - I'm just about to go down the Miscellaneous Chat list and randomly pick a forum to revive. Care to join me?

If anybody revives the forum thread called "Where are all our researchers from" I will make them sorry they did.
