Actually, Neil Armstrong's words were 'That's one small STEP for man, one giant leap for mankind', (note no a between 'for' and 'man') which rather buggers your anagram!smiley - smiley

Who said it was actually what he said?

The article implies it is using a direct quotation of Neil Armstrong's words. The version I gave above is correct according to recordings of the moon landing.

Pah! So? It's just a collection of words. You chose to think it was supposed to be what he actually said smiley - winkeye

Apparently this speech was prepared before the moon landing but Neil Armstrong got it wrong. He should have said 'That's one small step for 'a' man, one giant leap for mankind' as what he actually said does not make sense if you think about it.

You'd have thought they could have dubbed the correct statement on afterwards. Once the filming in a Hollywood studio had been completed! Perhaps they made Armstrong say the wrong thing on purpose to add authenticity to the staged moon landing!
