What exactly makes you think that we don't know how to do BBQ "properly" in the US? Have you ever had US BBQ before?
And have you had it from *every* region of the country, since it varies from region to region?
*reminisces about the absolute best BBQ she's ever had*

BBQing standards vary across the regions!!!!!?????
That's unthinkable, unheardof and totally opposed to the general rules of BBQing.
Oh wait, that happens here, too......

Rule #2 is that while the men are occipied with the charring of the meat, the women must make salads and make corny jokes about men cooking, as well as drink something sparkly and preferably bubbly, whether it be champers or just goon with oj.

Some belgians I know barbecue the best. Huge lumps of wood from back home (which they lug all the way to England, don't cher know), gigantic hunks of meat which their sponsors (a delicatessen) supply them, and lots of belgian beer. The best thing is they keep the embers going well after midnight so you can stand around and chat when it gets real cold

I don't know. Maybe we should leave a couple on a beach together somewhere and then come back the next morning to pick up the debris

Unfortunatley most of the brewery owners tend to be monks, so we'll have to cross that one off the list...
