Cheddar Gorge Sixteen - now it's legal!

Right... Quick recap of the rules.
Each player adds a word to the end of a sentence.
That player loses if:
1) The sentence becomes complete. It doesn't matter if they have a longer version in mind - it's not that the sentence can no longer be extended, simply that it is completed. For example, you could buzz on "Simon was hungry", even if the last player was planning to aim for "Simon was hungry for a donut".
2) The sentence can no longer be completed sensibly. For example, you could buzz on "Simon was juggernaut freemason" or similar. If this sort of challenge occurs, the LAST person to play before the challenge has the opportunity to redeem themselves by saying in their NEXT posting what the sentence they were aiming towards was. No-one else should post suggestions before they have had a chance to do so. A possible example might be to try "Simon was juggernaut freemason driver of the year at his lodge"...? If they come up with an acceptable ending then the challenger loses that round. Note - if you don't challenge on a nonesense sentence, but instead add a word, you are taking responsibility for that sentence and will lose if challenged on the next turn!
Whenever a challenge is issued, that sentence stops, and a new one is started below it.
Sorry to be so long-winded, but things seemed to be getting out of hand

New start:
"Simon"

(one last thing - any punctuation entered by players is only advisory - the next player can ignore it, change it or use it in their version of the sentence as they wish. Only the words are fixed...)

(That's a challenging one - whatever word is played next, the following player just needs to put quotes round it and buzz... )

(Eek! Thread tangle! I posted "inevetably" before I posted "incur", but if you look to the frame on the left, there was a "hiccup" in the threading. This has never happened to us before, and I don't know what to do! Do we go with the original post order, or with the order they are showing up in the thread window (which could be changed at the "Whim of a Jim"...)??? Pause for a short public poll to formulate a new rule!)

Well, the actual post order makes some sort of sense, if you change CS's "a" to an "an". When I added my word, I was reading it that way.

GL, that's true in this case, but I was more worried about future occurences - because of the different medium, there's no equivalent ruling from the radio version we can apply. I'd be more comfortable if we all agreed on a rule before the problem arises - otherwise next time someone might win or lose on the basis of the ruling, making unanymous agreement a little less likely.

SMylpostings are another occurance that may well happen. If that does occur how about the next poster deciding which or indeed both words will be used and post the sentance. This will of course need us all to wait til the forum is completely updated to see if someone else has smlyposted before us or not.
Key: Complain about this post
