I working on a different angle, so there's a good chance I may come up with it even before then.

Hi Nonnie,
It's good to see you around. You seem to be avoiding the parties. Everyone misses you. We are currently stranded on an island on the Mississippi River, awaiting a Tom Sawyer adventure. All your friends are there:

I haven't so much as been avoiding them as not having had time.
And I should be leaving soon yet again. *sigh* I'll see if I can load your link and not crash, but I won't be able to catch up, just jump in.

Irving, my friend, you may now breathe. I faxed the Library which holds the archive of the town's newspapers. The first time I was ignored, but today I found this among the 1800+ mail in my inbox:
Halloween Night In
Halloween night when the parafin roams,
when the windows are soaped in the schools and homes.
The outhouses up on the square are now put,
And the furnaces pollute the air with their soot.
The streetlights with corn today will be strung
And dummies from porch roofs tonight will be hung.
The storeowner's house will be bombed with tomatoes
And maybe this year we'll add eggs and potatoes.

PS: I was quite a wee mouse at the time I wrote it, so you must forgive any glaring spelling errors. (And besides, I wasn't responsible for the final edit. )

Lovely poem, nonnie. Especially for a wee mouse. With a great sense of humour even then. How are you? It was a day-brightener seeing this entry on my page. Do you have time to join the old gang for a nip?

BTW nonnie, the party from the beer pool is now on the planet Deimos. We are waiting for the delivery of the bar fridge so we can all have a drink. we are taking a break in the midst of a takeover of the planet. Everyone would be thrilled to see you. :-) http://www.h2g2.com/F14181?thread=60514

That was great!
Your little poem totally made my summer. (Sad isn't it?)
Thanks for keeping after it until you were able to post it. Really, really funny.

I hate to tell you this, but my scrapbook was destroyed when marauders ransacked the farm where I grew up.
