CGG - perhaps a password change is in the offing - although she doesn't just log in randomly and the news feed is regualry "cleaned".

To be fair, us males like to rationalise.

There is flirting with your wifes sister, which is a no-no.

And there is flirting with a lass from Burnley who is over 350 miles away that I have never met.

Were it not for your FB profile (which still could be fictious) I could well be flirting with a 50 year old, hairy @rsed trucker called Trevor. Therefore, flirting is acceptable.

QED.

Hmmm...I'm not so sure my wife would be all that happy if I was flirting with a 50 year old trucker either.

GAR - you have found the one tiny, tiny loophole in an otherwise flawless arguement.

- On the subject of Herc's name, I think its because the Villa mascot is called Hercules, and Mrs Herc is called Bella.

I'm not from Burnley smiley - sadface

The thing is though, surely flriting with someone who is little more than a figment of a man's imagination (which is what I am guys - I don't exist at all!) is better than flirting with someone who is real and touchable and could take things further. It's like women who don't like their men to look at porn ... why??!! Better to look at pictures than to go out and try and find someone to get naked and stare at.

I don't understand women at all smiley - sadface

The Villa mascot is called Hercules? Why? What's that got to do with Aston Villa, or being a villain.

Not like Gunnersaurus. Nothing says Arsenal more than a dinosaur.

GAR - We are VILLAN's not Villains. You'll find plenty of the latter in Liverpool.

As to why the Mascot is called Hercules, I haven't got the sweetest idea - nor why his wife is called Bella.

Gunnersaurus is AWESOME smiley - smiley

"Better to look at pictures than to go out and try and find someone to get naked and stare at."

To be honest if I was going to go to the trouble of finding a woman who'd get naked for me I don't think I'd just stare.

CGG, are you saying that if you caught your fella flirting with someone on Facebook you'd be fine with that?

I wouldn't like to say. But I'm from nowhere near Burnley - I'm Cumbrian - so I don't want you to think I sound like some Lancastrian lass when in fact I sound much more Northern and difficult to understand smiley - ok

Eames is right, in the 1950's Villa's mascot was a man in blackface called "Darkie" ... I gathered the BBC would prefer me to go for our much more friendly loveable lion smiley - wow

That's worth a point, can you see me pointing it?

My number two and three pet hate misquotes are,

Misquote: “Lead on, Macduff”
Actual Quote: “Lay on, Macduff, and damned be him who first cries ‘Hold! enough!’”

Misquote: “Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him well.”
Actual Quote: “Alas, poor Yorick. I knew him, Horatio – a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.”

"A vintage Hercules bike with plenty of nice touches like the leather saddle (three springs fit for a king) or the original gear changer (see more pictures on gumtree). Hercules was an English bicycle founded in Aston in 1910. The mascot of Aston Villa football club is called Hercules the Lion after this firm who claimed to be the biggest cycle producing company in the world in the thirties."
