A Conversation for Jargon and its Siblings
Pancakes in the street

Odd. The contribution appears to come from a country which uses British spellings -- "specialised", "theatre", "parlour", etc. -- and yet has non-British grammar -- "differently than" -- and vocabulary -- "betting parlour". The references to "eggs sunny side up" and breakfast pancakes make me think of the United States. But neither in real life or in the films have I ever seen Americans ordering meals from waitresses in the street. Should I get out more?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
