A Conversation for FANTASY FOOTBALL - Season Eight - "The Untitled One"
WEEK TEN

After the excitement of trips to foreign climes, it's time to return home to the bosom of the domestic leagues.
Now I was initially going to include the Leeds v ManU game in this list. But then I thought sod it, you'll only all go and misspell 'van Nistelrooy' as your scorer and that's no fun at the end of the day. So you've got Tranmere v Oldham instead
Arsenal v Chelsea
Middlesborough v Newcastle
Manchester City v Bolton Wanderers
Southend United v Leyton Orient
Tranmere Rovers v Oldham Athletic
Closing date 12noon as usual, on Saturday 18th October.
All the best now

Tranmere have just appointed Brian Little as their new manager - so don't expect Oldham to thump them just because we stuffed them 6-0 yesterday

I don't think John Sheridan bothers to run as far as the opposition's penalty area any more, does he?

Always being one in favour of sharing the knowledge, I thought it might be worth pointing out that Simon Haworth plays for Tranmere... and also that Leyton Orient lost badly to Dagenham & Redbridge in the LDV Vans trophy in midweek (mind you, whether that means another inept performance When Saturday Comes or a comeback to silence the critics, I have no idea).

The management would like to point out that own-goals do count in the scoring system
Perhaps Orient had more important things on their mind that night, like avoiding relegation perhaps.

I'd missed that result. A shocking one for the O's, and having checked their website I see that there are few mitigating circumstances. They fielded their first team, and their acting manager Martin Ling says he took the game seriously. Not surprisingly, he was not a happy afterwards.
I saw a cracking FA Cup tie between Dag & Red and Orient a few years back. Dag & Red got four goals on that occasion too - but Orient got five. Little chance of the present O's side managing that, I fear.

Well, I was only trying to help...
I just wish it could have been someone other than the Daggers... you could say it's sour grapes 'cos they knocked us out of the Cup on Sky last season, but I have to say that I can take fans being graceless in defeat - but when you encounter a group so entirely and violently graceless in victory, well, you've got to wonder.
AND they only exist because of the acts of a corporate-raiding group of directors in the 1980s, who left Nort-East London with one major non-league football club, plus three supermarkets where Walthamstow Avenue, Leytonstone-Ilford and Redbridge Forest used to play Although it's quite a good Sainsbury's they built in Walthamtow, mind.

Bastard Dagenham and Bloody Redbridge knocked Scunthorpe out of the FA Cup a few years back. They're not particularly popular around here.
