Yes, I know it's all first person, but the Guidelines say it's allowed for personal accounts of things!

Any other comments welcome though!

I think the guidelines say that you can use first person when it's necessary to explain something.

I'll have to check. The Writing-Guidelines don't go indepth about first person stuff, but I know there's a page somewhere smiley - run

A266131 says

"However, there are exceptions to this rule, namely entries which positively benefit from being in the first or second person, and which are unlikely to be updated by other Researchers. These include personal experiences of things like diseases, personal reviews, where the reviews add a considerable amount to the entry or entries which are solely based round the experience of the author"

It seems like this entry has enough information in it to be developed into a third person entry. Your call, I suppose smiley - smiley

Mine is a personal account of my experience of volunteering at the 2002 commonwealth games.

I might do a 3rd person entry about the commonwealth games in general at a later date, but this isn't it.

If you can do a personal account of a disease, rather than a 3rd person about the disease in general, why not about something like volunteering at the commonwealth games? What's the difference?

There's a difference because the entry about disease benefits greatly from the first person account in my opinion.

I'm not saying I'm right. I'm usually not. I am curious what others think of this. There will be nothing standing in my way to recommend this once it gets a smiley - ok

I think this makes a good stab at combining factual and first person experiences in an entry smiley - smiley, and would be a bit flat and stilted (or 'impersonal' I suppose) if massaged into third person.

Few typos to correct (elligible, Athete's, acutal, recieved)

Typos corrected (I think!)

Anything else? Anything else people want to know about volunteering at the CG that I should add?

What would you think about you think about changing the title to reflect the first-person-ness of this?

Maybe something like 'A Personal Account of Volunteering at the 2002 Commonwealth Games', or 'The 2002 Commonwealth Games - A Volunteer's Tale'?

I think it's fine as it is - still not sure about the first-person thing... personally I think it should be OK, so I've recommended it and we'll see what the Italics say.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
