Opticalillusion- media mynx life would be boring without hiccups Started conversation Feb 11, 2004
Hello everyone tis opticalillusion here i thought it was about time i'd update this dear journal of mine.
Ok first of all I will give an insight into life at uni ( if theres any i hear unc and psg cry ) I have been finding myself stuff to occupy my time before the second semester commences (feb 16)and i find out whether i have made it into carrying on my education or have to resit modules.
This time at uni has therefore been spent on working at a cardshop and i enjoy it i do feel it is understaffed though and we need another permanent member of staff as all we have is one and 3 students. One lady (the assistant manager is in hospital with cancer). Therefore I seem to be lumped on with work even though i'm a temp, but they know i'm a hard worker and i wont always stand my ground.
My family is set to go on holiday skiing again without me if i wasn't at uni i'd have been able to go too but theres always future years right? other than that my sis has started talking to me again and lil sis adores me as big sis (the one she can look up to)
Have been wary about wisdom teeth coming through and i may even have to be sedated and have them taken out! as theres little room there... maybe some mouth exercises are in order aaaaaaaaaaaarrgh!
Have also had my hair cut its ok but i'm used to my long hair and miss it am a little nervous whether my bf will like it but he thinks he will .... its a good job i didn't opt for the piercings instead only joking cannot stand pain thats why my ears arent pierced plus i think its an abuse to the body but thats only my opinion
talking about pain i have been asked whether i can have my blood tested for cholestrol and want to please my dad by doing it for him but i hate it and cannot do it please help me
I really enjoyed the christmas meet thanks people for making the day a great one. Its a shame I didn't get to talk to everyone but theres always the summer one right and as for oxford I dont know as I have been put down to work but could always pull a sicky on them.
Oh and if anyone fancies a read of my latest work on master b's collection about restarting a fire feel free they are on my space as well as his list of what people are doing what. Maybe it'll inspire you lot to write something too.... I'm not saying my work is the bees knees mind
Finally have been doing a bit more travelling recently have seen devon and looked out for the beast of bodmin but could only see a blonde one who happened to be driving the car and edinborough here i come around easter
As always thanks for putting up with me love opti

Putting up with you?
Glad to hear that things are going reasonably well, if they are a lot hectic. I do hope you'll make Oxford. Shall I move you down to 'possibly' from 'probably'?

I'm snowed under with reading and revision - mock AS and A2 exams after half-term, and a UCL interview on Monday. Oh, and a meet to organise! - I'm calling it my break from revision.

anyway I hope the meet goes well. I am surprised that you are doing both AS's and A"'s at the same time. Which subjects are they? If you have told me before I apologise my memory is shocking. Good luck with all of it love opti

Thanks for the good luck on both counts. Yeah - the AS/A2 thing is peculiar to my school, and I'm doing Chemistry, English Lit., French and History. I have 27h of exams twice over between now and July...

*emerges from under large pile of paper*
Life? At Uni? I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing, wait a sec, I'll check my notes
*Dives amongst papers swims around for a while, reemerges with a specific scrawled on page*
This could be it...oh, wait, no this only describes it in the negative.
Don't see it as missing a ski trip, see it as an opportunity to avoid breaking bones More seriously, as you say there are likely to be other trips later on you get to go on, so try not to get too down about it.
Glad to hear of the improved Sis situation
As for blood tests, it can be in many ways a state of mind, also a state of relaxation of the arm. The more relaxed it is the less it hurts, the less you look as it is happening the more you are able to think of other things and therefore the more you can relax. Hmmm, this is fairly general advice, I think though if you can find a way to convince your mind to cope with it the more you will be able to cope. Sorry, not really very helpful
I would have been surprised if you had managed to talk to everyone, there was a fair few people there. However with meets it can be a build up thing, the more you go to, the more people you know and the easier it is to meet other people
I'll try and have a look at those entries if I get chance.
I don't think anyone minds 'putting up' with Opti as you put it, so there is no need to apologise for it

p.s. Sorry to the other posters for such a long reply to the initial post

Life at uni? Well there's plenty of that, you just have to try and stay away from it during exam times and coursework deadlines.
Well I was on my own for three weeks during the summer while the rest of the family went to Ireland (as you know.) I missed out on a holiday but then then they haven't been on all the trips that I've been on with Ramsoc. You've been to Devon on the plus side.
It's hard to know who people are when you first go to meets but it does get easier.
I don't 'put up' with you, it's my own choice to talk to you.

I couldn't have put it better myself...

Thanks peeps for reassuring me .... I've never had that many friends so I am not entirely sure where I stand at times
I think I'd better just talk to the uni doctor today and see what happens
had phone call from parents today apparently my dad has been rolling down hills not skiing them! so hasplenty of bruises to show off lol
as for meeting people its always nice to hear someone elses voice/perspective who can put another spin on things

Any time you want to be reassured I'm sure there will be no shortage of volunteers here
That does tend to happen with skiing
