It is very discouraging. It seems to have really erupted only since I stepped down from the Post Team, but I can imagine very easily how much harder it has made it to run The Post and get it out on time.
Without wanting to overstate the case, it's also clear that it's discouraging some people from posting anything that requires a lot of time and thought. Why would you, if it's going to disappear and require a series of emails to-and-fro to get it reinstated?
One thing about abiding by any site's terms and conditions is that you have to know what they are in order to do so. In this instance, nobody seems to know what is forbidden. It's absurd.

Well, the eds explained it all, so I now know what it would need to get it reinstated. Although see that they don't have a choice, I'm not prepared to alter the company and product name, so I'll just delete it and that's it.

Okay, that at least makes some sense.
It's not paranoia in an age of utterly frivolous lawsuits. (Or, why I change the name of every single person and thing.)
But this was what I meant: Let's have a cleartext explanation of what sort of thing causes a problem.
If we know that it's brand names, we will leave them out.
