I had a look at the website they link to, where you can appeal (allegedly), but it was so confusing I just replied to the email.
I wrote that on 13 August, the last comments were on 14 August. 2009, that is. So what happened? I'm utterly fed up.

The Magical General. If you remember it, it's just a bit of satire about advertised products. I can't for the life of my imagine what's wrong with it. I wish they would tell us, and not just send the default email. And we used to be 'Dear Community Member', then it was 'Dear BBC Reader' and now it is 'Dear BBC Visitor'.

And I'm totally clueless. They shift the goal posts permanently, so maybe there's a hidden earmuff somewhere in there? Only that I would never know.
Dear BBC Visitor,
Hypatia Posted Nov 10, 2010
It is definitely frustrating. They should do a better job communicating with us.
Dear BBC Visitor,
Dmitri Gheorgheni, Post Editor Posted Nov 10, 2010
This must stop.
I remember that story vividly, and there is nothing offensive in it. It's a lovely little conceit about products and advertising.
The way this filter business works, you have to go through the text with a fine tooth comb.
Dear BBC Visitor,
BMT Posted Nov 10, 2010
I doubt very much its the filter. If there's been no comments or alterations to the article itself since August its more likely to have been yikesed manually. Why its been upheld is another matter.
Dear BBC Visitor,
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Nov 10, 2010
Does anybody know whether the moderators will react to an email reply, since I didn't fill in that online form? Has somebody recently replied to a yikesed/moderated post by email and got a reply?
Dear BBC Visitor,
Gnomon - time to move on Posted Nov 10, 2010
If you get a moderation email, reply to it and it will be referred to the Eds. You can ask the Eds to explain what you did wrong.
Dear BBC Visitor,
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Nov 10, 2010
I replied to it, Gnomon, by email, and ignored that online form they link to.
Dear BBC Visitor,
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Nov 10, 2010
I'll do that if their reply is negative - if they reply.
Dear BBC Visitor,
PedanticBarSteward Posted Nov 10, 2010
It's like TQM. Who moderates the moderators?
Dear BBC Visitor,
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Nov 10, 2010
I always get that Bad Gateway horror clown.
Dear BBC Visitor,
Stealth "Jack" Azathoth Posted Nov 10, 2010
I didn't go through the form either, I did it the old fashioned way and replied to the email and my allegedly "potentially libellous and defamatory" post has been reinstated.
