Thank you for contributing to a BBC community site. Unfortunately we've had to remove your
Content below because it contravenes the House Rules.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/moderation.shtml#house

Postings to BBC Communities will be removed if they:

* Are considered likely to provoke, attack or offend others
* Are racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable
* Contain swear words (including abbreviations or alternative spellings) or other language likely to offend

Discussions considered likely to have been started with the intention of provoking others or disrupting the Community will be removed.

If you would like to re-write your contribution to remove the problem, then
we'd be very happy for you to contribute it again.

If you have read the House Rules carefully and are still unsure why your message was removed, you can find out how to appeal against a moderation decision here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/moderation.shtml#canappeal

Dear BBC Visitor,

I had a look at the website they link to, where you can appeal (allegedly), but it was so confusing I just replied to the email.

I wrote that on 13 August, the last comments were on 14 August. 2009, that is. So what happened? I'm utterly fed up.

What was this entry about? smiley - cross

Dear BBC Visitor,

The Magical General. If you remember it, it's just a bit of satire about advertised products. I can't for the life of my imagine what's wrong with it. I wish they would tell us, and not just send the default email. And we used to be 'Dear Community Member', then it was 'Dear BBC Reader' and now it is 'Dear BBC Visitor'. smiley - sigh

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 6

BMT

You beat me to it Dmitri.
Can you give us some clues Bel without getting into trouble?

smiley - cat

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 7

darn server too busy, simposted now. Can't say I remember it to be honest.

smiley - simpost

And I'm totally clueless. They shift the goal posts permanently, so maybe there's a hidden earmuff somewhere in there? Only that I would never know. smiley - erm

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 9

Hypatia

It is definitely frustrating. They should do a better job communicating with us.

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 10

This must stop.

I remember that story vividly, and there is nothing offensive in it. It's a lovely little conceit about products and advertising.

The way this filter business works, you have to go through the text with a fine tooth comb. smiley - rolleyes

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 11

BMT

I doubt very much its the filter. If there's been no comments or alterations to the article itself since August its more likely to have been yikesed manually. Why its been upheld is another matter. smiley - erm

Dear BBC Visitor,

Does anybody know whether the moderators will react to an email reply, since I didn't fill in that online form? Has somebody recently replied to a yikesed/moderated post by email and got a reply?

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 13

Gnomon - time to move on

If you get a moderation email, reply to it and it will be referred to the Eds. You can ask the Eds to explain what you did wrong.

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 14

aka Bel - A87832164

I replied to it, Gnomon, by email, and ignored that online form they link to.

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 15

lil ~ Auntie Giggles with added login ~ returned

Ask for it to be referred to the h2g2 Editors for their adjudication smiley - ok

lil x

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 16

aka Bel - A87832164

I'll do that if their reply is negative - if they reply.

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 17

BMT

While you're at it Bel, ask 'em to feed that smiley - bleeping smiley - hamster,I'm fed up with server to busy....

I always get that Bad Gateway horror clown.

Dear BBC Visitor,

Post 20

Stealth "Jack" Azathoth

I didn't go through the form either, I did it the old fashioned way and replied to the email and my allegedly "potentially libellous and defamatory" post has been reinstated.
