You are both right, of course. It's probably good for all of us to remember and try to do better. smiley - smiley

The major religions have a lot in common where it comes to positive attitude to one another - what happens?

Fascinating. smiley - smiley

What happened? I guess most people just don't care about it, that happened. Take the Catholic church: they tortured and killed people, saying they were witches. They fought bloody wars, killing people. I'm sure they wouldn't have wanted to be tortured and killed themselves.

"JONAH - Jews Offering New Alternatives to Homosexuality"

"National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality"

NARTH is a well-known anti-gay pseudoscientific group of psychologists, most of whom have been thrown out of the American Psychological Association.

JONAH, which recently changed its name, rather hilariously, to the fairly accurate "Jews Offering New Alternatives to Healing", is a much smaller anti-gay group which recycles a lot of NARTH material, sometimes not even editing out the Christian perspectives.

More information on both these groups and others is available at http://www.boxturtlebulletin.com.

And, back on topic.

I can say no more, Bel, than has already been said. Know you have friends. And I'm sorry I missed Germany on my last European trip (I intended to go, but I spent too long in the south); I'll try to get there on the next one.

<<The major religions have a lot in common where it comes to positive attitude to one another - what happens?<<

It´s common sense. We are social animals that need each other. The general idea of "don´t do to others what you don´t want to be done to you" reminds us that we have to be empathic with each other.

What happens is that some humans USE others when they have a need or wish, they don´t respect the dignity those others have as people.

::
About sending kind thoughts, I have a quaker friend who does that. I love the idea, they say they "hold someone in the light" .
I´m not religious, but as Bel said, it´s nice to know that someone think of you wishing you well.

TRiG, I hope you'll come to Germany - maybe we can arrange a meet?

To lessen the culture shock, I recommend you read 'Three Men on the Bummel' first. smiley - biggrin

Gnomon - time to move on

You can download Jerome K Jerome's "Diary of a Pilgrimage" from Project Gutenberg. It describes a journey he made with his friend B to Oberammergau to see the Passion Play, and is a good insight into Germany.

I love Three Men on a Boat, but I've never read Three Men on the Bummel. I must. And I'll try for the next German meet.
