I found a post and a link by TRiG to a website where you can have your style of writing analysed.
http://iwl.me/b/696f37bd
I guess it is a bit similar to the gender genie, which analysed my scribblings as 'male' ca 95% of the time.
I tried lots of my 'creative writing' and got the following results:
Childhood Memories => David Foster Wallace (never heard of him)
The Magical General =>
Ursula K Le Guin
On the Beach by Night (A sestina) => Margaret Atwood
Modesty, a Female Trait => Edgar Allan Poe
Genesis (a poem) => Harry Harrison (nNever heard of him)
Now, if that wasn't great already, I stopped at:
Applied Maths => Douglas Adams
It can't get any better, surely?
Oh, and I guess this just means that I have my very own style of writing which varies depending on the subject.

I've just got some extracts from David Foster Wallace, Ursula le Guin, Margaret Atwood, Edgar Allan Poe, Harry Harrison and Douglas Adams into that, and they all came back with B'Elana as the result!
RF
I write like James Joyce, apparently. At least, in my emails.

Yes, I tried a few of my extracts and got Margaret Atwood, Dan Brown, HP Lovecraft, Douglas Adams, David Foster Wallace and Jonathon Swift. I suspect the program works along the lines of:
You write like a famous author. Which of the following 20 is closest?
There's a flaw in that.

Oh, and I guess they just alternate famous authors in order to flatter you and make you subscribe to them. I bet there's money in for them at some point.

It correctly identified extracts from Ulysses and Alice in Wonderland, but gave some interesting results for other classics:
A Christmas Carol - in the style of Stephen King
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner - in the style of Charles Dickens
The Gods of Mars - in the style of Vladimir Nabokov
Tess of the d'Urbervilles - in the style of Ian Fleming

Rather worryingly my management course assignment is apparently like James Joyce!
The Dry Stone Wall (stretcher stuff) came out as Stephen King, as did a Dr Seuss spoof
An extract from my NaNoWriMo novel was analyzed as David Foster Williams.
And my diary, plus Truth at First Light (more stretcher) was Douglas Adams!
Nice to know I can write in more than one style. But that assignment obviously needs more work

Well I put in one of my journal entries and I write like William Shakespeare.
Well I have about as much hair as him, so why not?

I guess it's a bit like a lottery, only that this is programmed to come up with a 'winner' each time you try.
