In India, we have a new trend; all the cabbies have stickers on their rear window, which reads “Tell me if I am driving rash” or “tell me how am I driving” followed by a mobile number, with a smiling smiley
So these little cars will break almost all the traffic rules, overtake you and suddenly appear in front of your car, breaking the lane of course. You curse the driver for driving rash and even before you can see the mobile number and try to write it or memorize it, it will vanish behind another vehicle.
How is that for a sticker!

Traveller in Time no bumper stickers on the car
"We have been thinking for a while to put one of those:
[If you can read this, you are driving too close]
stickers, but as one should not be able to read it, it is useless. "

Yes and there is always the risk that some idiot will drive so close in order to read your sticker [If you can read this, you are driving too close] that they will end up in your boot.
One sticker I would like to see would be one saying something along the lines ...
[This driver obeys speed limits ~ overtake at your own risk]

Hi Wendy.
Sorry to take so long to answer, you see despite great tuition and patience from our good friends logicus and T.T. I have not mastered the art of finding my way around this site. Therefore I mostly use Morewriting, which is very similar to G.W.as it was re-formed privately from its technology and ashes.
G.W. was the now closed down bbc site, Get Writing, the postings that you may have difficulty in following are concerned with and refer to the great battle that took place with the beeb management to avoid closure, a lost cause!
The petition was enormous, and hundreds of members and celebs; from all over the world supported the objections and the resultant postings are worthy of a novel in their own right, if you could find them that is.
Cheers H.

Hi H,
I suppose in the fullness of time I would have explored the Get Writing link but I am a relatively recent visitor to these pages on h2g2 ..... yes, I remember seeing a link to Get Writing, (along with the likes of "Buffy" which I believe was a cult sci-fi program) but never follwed it up due to pressure of time and maybe lack of creative inspiration the image of wringing blood from stone comes to the fore when faced with a blank page.
I fear it is a sad comment on the evolution of human society that the finer echelons of inspiration and enjoyment are shaved off in favour of so called efficiency but what is really pandering to mass appeal and ratings.

Hi Wendy,
Strange things adrift, I have just read your post and Galaxy Babes too on my Get Writing Space, (more conversations.)
Is G.W really dead or only in limbo,in the propaganda issued prior to closure we were told that our site was needed for more youthful purposes, yet it remains exactly how we left it, or is it?
Cheers H.

Traveller in Time trying to translate
"Personal Spaces, and the Forums attaced to them (Message Center and Journals) are present in all sites. That is you can view your Space in < <./>/dna/360/U934904</.> >, < <./>/dna/1xtra/U934904</.> > or in Goo < <./>/dna/h2g2/Classic/U934904</.> > the page and Forums stay the same, only the window colour changes.
And to obscure things even more, it also matters what browser you are using , some use black on white background for brunel some reversed. "

Thanks once again T.T. a little knowledge may be a dangerous thing in some circumstances, so I will keep on gleaning a little more.
I am still not quite clever enough to work out a persons identity from hidden clues, but time will possibly reveal that which is not obvious.
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Cheers H.

Traveller in Time sorry for the divertion
"Had not tested the 360 site for a while. And I was using a command line browser the afternoon (just checking the internet capabilities of a system) so I did not follow the links .
Until recent it was possible to see your space in 360, Cult, 'Book of the Future' and some more ().
Anyway the sites appear to me as a skin, just a coat you put on but you are the same (more or less). If you post to a GetWriting page you will receive an email (most of the times) about the site not open for postings anymore. "

Thanks TT. I also note that every time I log onto h2g2 I am pestered by ads from bullseye who dominate my page, is this a new thing, I thiught that the beeb did not advertise.
Cheers H.

Traveller in Time not any advertisement on his computers
"Nope, think it means your system has picked up some advertising viruses.
Clear your cache, install an antivirus program and (if your computer is clear again) Do not press that button again !
The BBC only advertises themselves on the < <./>FrontPage</.> > you see some pf them in the bottom. "

Thanks for the swift assistance, I have bought a new virus programme and I am having it set up tomorrow, I will take your advice, also I will not log on again until it is done.

Thanks Scandria,
Nice to see you again too, the reason why I do not post very often is because I find it quite difficult to find my way around the site.
To be honest the main reason I do, is because TT and logicus swiftly sort out my problems.
GW is replaced by Morewriting which is easier to use than many other sites, but alas is not G.W. any more, but I use it for posting at the moment.
h2g2 does cover a wider area, has more skillful members, and contains fantastic knowledge.
Slowly, slowly I will improve technique and keep coming back for more,
Cheers H.
