Traveller in Time Reporting Bugs -o-o- Broken the chain of Pliny -o-o- Hired

Was at a factory site today, on leaving we had a virus check, it seemed there was a virus contaminating all computers that had been using the network.

The virus scanner was a security agent, asking if we had laptops and had have them connected to the company network smiley - erm. He was also inspecting the car boot with a torch light.

I am starting to get a little worried about a virus you can see if spotted by a torch light.

What did it smell like? I gather you have to watch out for things that smell of almonds.

So there was a person employed to run software that scanned for virus. [If "He" and the security agent are one and the same.]

Laptops are not always connected to the network. But in asking if there are any disconnected nodes (laptops) it's not guessing, but asking if the job is being done fully.

If there was a laptop with a virus on and not scanned [and 'fixed'] then it could (re)infect the whole network.

Looking in the car boot with a torch light. Flash Harry? Who's car his, yours? Checking for laptops? Checking for "unauthorised" software? He asked a question, so ask him the question, what is with the light show Yoda?

Traveller in Time smiley - tit cleared by himself (and a little aid from Msmiley - coffee)
"The security officer first just asked some questions and inspected the boot (company station wagon) only to say goodbeye with the mention it was about a virus hunt.

On leaving the premisses I realised I had had my memory stick attached to one of the office PCs so I could have been infected without a laptop after all. First thing back at the office was checking for the virus (not using a flashlight but a software virusscanner).

story does not include if they actually found the virus before it left company grounds. smiley - weird "

I'm not really here

Heh, nothing like a torch for searching out viruses of any kind. That explains why my smiley - doctor looks in my ears with a light when I go to visit. smiley - biggrin

My TV...smiley - eureka. It is a device designed to decode a broadcasted stream of video information.

Has an SD slot.smiley - bluelight Secure Digital cards. Secure standing for the write protected notch these cards can have.

'Runs' Linux. An alternative Operating System very good in doing the same thing for lengths of time. smiley - lighthouse

Is it going to get a virus? smiley - ermsmiley - spider not entirely impossible however very unlikely as viruses can be spotted using a flashlight.

Memmory cards, can somebody *shed some light* on the subject. Memory cards use so called bubble memory, they store tiny amounts of static electricity in their cells. Can only be written in 'large' blocks (256K or more). Relatively slow. (How musof thinks it will improve system speed as external memory is a mistery.)

smiley - disco Enough lights ? smiley - biggrin "

Traveller in Time smiley - tit writing additional television programs (not programmes)
"I do lots of effort to change the software as it is in embedded systems, like a television, router, DVD player. . . .

There are ways to get a program loaded requiring at least other inputs to start the device running a program instead of loading data.

The program memory and the data memory are seperated areas inside the device. You have to give specific commands on a 'non user input' to get an embedded device loadding new programs. This non user input is sometimes just a series of contacts on the Printed Circuit Board.

Telephones and PDA devices are vulnerable to viruses as they have options to 'load a game' or get online software updates. . .

However even these are not vulnerable to viruses aimed at a Personal Computer, they simple do not understand the language. "
