It's not exactly a solistice celebration- the summer solstice is in June, and celebrates the middle of summer. May Day celebrations are for the beginning of summer.

But Jack is usually associated with the Green Man, that's why I steered clear of anythig but the briefest explainations for the festivals meanings. That's for another one I think...
