h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

It's been a busy old couple of days!

First, one of my friends was really ill with a migraine yesterday, so we had to look after her all day and more-or-less carry her to the doctors, which pretty much wore me out!

Then, yesterday evening, I went along to my uni's University Challenge audition quiz thingie. I only went along as a laugh, and ended up on the first team! I think that might have something to do with the fact that there were only about 20 people there mind you... We've got a heat or two to do before we get to the TV rounds, but our team captain has been in a 15-to-One grand final so we should be OK! One of my best friends is on the team too, so the whole thing should be a good laugh

Today I had to go to hospital for the test thingie they do before you get the BCG jab - you know, the one where you get 6 pinpricks on your arm and if they don't react you need the jab or something, well I need to go back next Wednesday for the actual jab (well, to see if I need the jab, and to have it if I do). I hope I don't need the jab because it leaves a nasty scar on your arm

Wow, that was a long journal entry!

Woooow. I've never known a TV star before, oh intellectual one! Have fun and smack Paxman on the nose for me.

Hope the jab goes well, and dont worry about the mark it isnt that bad. Better to be protected against whatever it is its immunising against.

How did you get to be your current maturity without already having the BCG?

with the UC. Since I know your real name (twists gypsy forelock and gives small nod ) I shall keep an eye out for your appearance on my crystal ball.

I missed out on the BCG somehow - they stopped doing it for a bit round me and then started again and I got left out somewhere along the line.

Like I say, we might not even be on TV with it if we don't get through the heats... And how do you know my real name?

I always wanted to go on University Challenge, ever since I saw the episode of The Young Ones where they did!

"Well, are you going to let us win?"
"Certainly not: the posh kids win, they always do. Come along!"

But Royal Holloway never got a team together, so I never bought a copy of The Daily Mirror Book of Facts to revise from.
