I'm not sure who has been doing the signing up lately.

Lonefaery (Lonefairy) was doing it, but I don't see a posting from her(?) since April... I'm sure someone will.

Anyone got the signing-up pen?

I'll take a regular and a bag of day olds, eh. I'm not fussy. You must be from Ottawa, anhaga. Geez, I never seen so many coffee shops!

Brantford, ON, is the cultural black hole I call home.

Actually, I believe that St. Catharines qualifies as the "Donut Capital of Canada". As I understand it, they have shops on practically every corner. So says my dear friend, Bob, a native of that burgh. It used to be listed in the Guiness Book of Records as having the most donut shops in the world.

Although, Hamilton seems to think IT is the Donut King.... http://www.city.hamilton.on.ca/Visiting-Here/about-hamilton/hamilton-almanac-highlights.asp

As long as they don't count the donut travesty, Krispy Kreames, which are nothing more than sweetened lumps of fried lard.

I've heard that about St Kits. With the recent proliferation of Timmys, it's hard to tell. I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but most Southern Ontario communities seem to be close to the saturation point. At any rate, there's not much excuse to be without a smiley - coffee and a smiley - donut wherever you happen to find yourself.

I've not tried Krispy Kreames, nor do I intend to. Like a lot of what America thinks is marvellous, we already have that... only better!

JTG smiley - cheers

rev. paperboy (god is an iron)

Ahh Brantford, my parents are from Brantford. Did you know the toothbrush was invented in Brantford?

Of course anywhere else it would have been called the teethbrush.

Do people in Brantford still call Dalhousie street "Deloosy street"? My Grandparents always did and my mom still does.

And Hamilton -where I went to high school and my parents still live - is definitely the donut capital of the world. Population 300,000 people, 300+ donut shops. And home to the first Tim Hortons. Also where hosers Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas went to University and where much of the film Strange Brew was filmed

Dalhoosie... They call it that, here, too. Drives me mad.

You can always tell the Americans who visit. "I went to see the Ride-o Falls, but got lost on Crich-ton. Do you know where the El-jin Hotel is?"

I didn't know that they have high schools in Hamilton. Or does that refer to the elevation of a school on The Mountain. I always thought it said something interesting about the people of Hamilton that they call the side of a hole 'The Mountain'.

People in Brantford do call Dalhousie Street "D'loosy". Although there are a lot of new people moving into the city who have probably come up with their own way of pronouncing it - In fact, they probably hired a consultant.

I don't think Murkans stop in Brantford, unless they're lost. Those who do must think that it is some sort of weird theme park, since so many of the locals seem to be costumed or heavily made up.
