I should also have mentioned that she was descended from Jospeh Brant.

@ <--- universal sign of the blown raspberry.
I imagine that there must be something about her at the Woodland Cultural Centre. I'll have to have a look.

Many times. Tom Hill, the director, is a friend of... well, I was going to say mine, but a friend of my ex's. I don't know if they have anything specifically on her, there.
My ex's father was at the Mohawk Institute.

I had transcribed Edith's WWI diary which was eventually published for the family. I just tried to see if I still had the disk. I have the disk, but, unfortunately, I get a message that the disk isn't formatted.... I guess the disk has somehow become corrupt.
Really too bad. The diary was really interesting, and rather rare. One wasn't supposed to keep a diary and she could have been in a great deal of trouble had it been found. However, she did, anyway and, while it didn't speak a lot about the wounded, she talked a lot about the goings-on at the base and the sort of things the nurses did outside of the wards.
She went to a lot of dances, apparently. She spoke of dancing with Eddie Rickenbacker. She wasn't impressed, saying he was "rather full of himself".

Oh, dear. That's a shame. I wonder if you could have it restored somehow. I don't know enough about computers and data storage to know if that is possible. I hope something can be done. There must be a geek out there somewhere who cold help.
The Woodland Cultural Centre is a real gem. The permanent collection is beautifully displayed, very impressive, and they often have very good contemporary art exhibits in the gallery. The gift shop is a great place to pick up something special for Xmas. For a city that doesn't seem to have a whole lot going for it, I think we're very lucky to have access to such a fine museum.

It may be that the disk was from my old PS1, and was a reformatted Mac disk. It worked on the PS1, but sometimes wouldn't work on other computers. I'm going to hang onto it just in case.

I believe that lonefaery has not been about for quite some time.
The simple but not quite satisfactory thing for us to do would be to simply copy the entry and try to tell everyone of the move.
The more satisfactory thing to do would be to ask the editors if it would be possible to move the entry to someone else's space. This could cause difficulties if Lonefaery should suddenly return.
Of course, both possibilities have difficulties.

No one has Lonefaery's email addy? What a shame. One more addition to the list of things that shouldacouldawoulda been done to this site to make it universal. Well, it is Universal, isn't it? Since it's a guide to such. I'm meandering again, aren't I. I blame coffee instead of tea. That and listening to *Wrong Side of the Road*- Tom Waits.

I suppose one could copy the page, start a thread on the old one stating that the page has been respectfully superseded by the new thread and one might even be able to retain this thread as the sign up thread with a link to it on the new page.

In the old days, it used to be possible (I'm fairly certain ) to have editorial control of a specific Entry transferred. That would seem to be a reasonable solution. I don't know whether the current increased workload of the Editors (there are now fewer of them) would allow them to indulge in such things now. But it might be worthwhile asking. Then, if Lonefaery does return and decide to take up the reins, control could simply be switched back.
Otherwise, anhaga's solution would seem to be the way to do things.

From our side of things it would be a great deal easier to have the editors just switch control. I, however, will resist any attempt to be volunteered to be the new controller.
