they should plan to wear the stripes horizontally then. the way they are now actually make them look fatter smiley - erm

anyway, where and when should we meet on friday 8. may in london? anybody got any good ideas?

a pub somewhere near London Guards Hotel, 36-37 Lancaster Gate, seems like a good idea to me

As MMF said in the other thread, in the past we've met at 1) The George and 2) the Anchor Inn in Southwark (both a couple of minutes from London Bridge).

The George is better. Both get busy (long bar queues), but there's usually plenty of seating, particularly if someone can get there early and act territorially. If it's a fine evening, then both have outdoor seating.

the anchor in park street and the george on d'arblay street, right?

if so i've found them both and they look promising

however, it is said about the george: "The only gripe, the loud music. Judging by the mainly middle-aged lunchtime clientele, no one was enjoying it, except the bar staff."

but if we can be outside i guess we can live with it

There was no music in the George - loud or otherwise - when I was there. Must be a new feature.

If you're not sure about being there on Friday, maybe you'd better look for a hotel that's close to the venue on Saturday. The last few times we've met in the Shakespeare's Head next to Holborn Underground Station.

I've been in the Anchor in Southwark. I didn't think much of it.

Also, on a Friday night in May, it's likely to be absolutely rammed.
