Thanks . I want to take a History degree, applying to Cambridge too (Robinson), although I haven't even finished my personal statement yet .
After that, who knows.

Cambridge does look scary though. I'm scared it'll get in the way of my non-work ethic.

How can you have a nonwork ethic and 4 A's?
How many you doing for A2?

Exam skills dontcha know?
Well, really I do double maths, you only really need to do as much work as it takes to grasp each topic for that, then I do physics, where basically the whole syllabus is covered in maths. Then history, where the only homework they set all year was reading and a few practice essays. I didn't do much of the reading last year, although I will this year.
I'm doing 4 for A2 - I wanted to drop maths but since I'm doing double they wouldn't let me. Its still not too much work - I haven't had to do any at home yet, plus I get 12 free periods a week, which means I don't have to be in school Wednesday, Thursday or Friday afternoons.

Maths = evil
I'm doing four as well - but I'm also in charge of school council, an environmental society and many more...
So the stress is getting to me
I'll cope
How do you rate your Cambridge chances then?

Ah, you're one of those sorts *ahem* are you? Damn you extracurricular types .
Maths is bad for the soul, especially when your teachers are so devoted to its evil practices that they outlaw calculaters .
I think I stand a pretty decent chance of getting into Cambridge. My teachers have written good references, I'd like to think I'm quite good at reasoned debate - doesn't everyone - so I might do well in interviews, and I think I have a couple of essays that turned out a bit special.
The trouble is, so will everyone else who applies. And probably they'll all have good personal statements too.
Et toi: Que pense tu?

I *hope* I'll be ok
I haven't got to hand in any essays but I'm pretty good at argueing and I really really want to go... only live an hours drive away, which is a bonus
Tu parles le francais?
What other choices have you got for Unis?

Why do you want to go there so badly then?
I kind of feel like I should at least apply, and I quite like the idea of the college system and not having to worry too much about finding accomodation, but I am still a little bit scared that it might be all cliquey or just too much work and I might leave really arrogant or just plain mad or something.
I'm also applying to Bristol, Warwick, UCL, KCL, and 1 undecided slot.
Je parle un peu francais, I'm somewhere on the French thread of 'The language Thing'.
Well, good luck with it and all. I'm not sure living an hour's drive away is altogether a bonus. What will you do when your parents decide to pay you a surprise visit?

I just love the place and the course - the accomodoation thing is great, too
And of course the prestige
I'm going for Nottingham, Durham, Sheffield and Southhampton as well.
J'aime le francais...
Good luck to you too
Parents would tell me first... they're that sort of parents, you know?
Which is a bonus
And one hour away from London esp. for gigs can't be bad

The prestige thing is the bit that scares me to honest. I don't think I've ever had a good influence of an institution that prides itself on reputation.
Je deteste le francais, car je ne peux pas le dire. J'aime les francaise.
Mmm, I can see it already: Clubbing all night in London, then the drunken rush for the last train. Ending up in John O Groats with a massive hangover and no-one's managed to keep hold of their phone or wallet...
