Official UnderGuide Volunteer Badge
J Started conversation Sep 9, 2004
Yesterday, a big purple badge plopped itself onto my user page, along with the other UG volunteers. Of course, this means I have a lifetime total of seven (count them) badges.
You could always get one yourself by going to the <./>UnderGuide</.> home page. *subtle hint*

And what, specifically, does a 'polisher' do?

This is what Gem Polishers do A1092566.
It's not usually anything like as much work as that looks. Usually a little GML is all that's needed. (I wouldn't be doing it otherwise and I'm signing out now Mr. CO.UG.ED, sir)

Hey, has that page got the right blob code Jodan? Wasn't there a new one?

Well done on the new badge - and all other UG volunteers.
Has it really been a year?! You guys deserve it with all the hard work you have all put in.
Shame you didn't take top subbing. Each to his own I guess, but I love it. Having said that I have just got another batch and I am positively ignoring it! I took August off and have got used to being a lazy bones.
Perhaps you could persuade TPTB to do a frontpage/Post feature on it [again].

Jimi, Mort.
I have to admit... I really didn't like subbing. I figured if I were going to edit entries, they should be my own or UG ones... no need to delegate the proofreading to the PR'ers, and increasingly, the good Waz here.
Remember you once said you'd be back. While I won't hold you to that, it seems like an awfully good time to take it up again.
Waz and Broe, I'll be right over there... managed to slip past me in the conversation list

Not much differences from the subs - just much easier.
(did I mention I wasn't a very good sub-editor by the way? Going from American to British English is impossible for me.)

Sub editing is always that way, you think your doing the write thing, then you change jobs and wop, you weren't.

I judge my subbing on how many times Gnomon finds a mistake when it hits the front page! Of course that doesn't tell me if the Eds corrected any when I returned the entry

"Like the pink? Apparently someone in the towers decided pink was our color."
Well... no to be honest. As colours go pink isn't really my style. I'm more of a Blue kind of guy, buts thats already taken I think.
What other colours are there that haven't already been taken?
