What a busy week, the University closes, I redo my page, and now this. I was elected as the UG Editor . I'm guessing that everyone who has me on their friends list already knows this. I've been flooding the forums with this news.
GTBacchus, my co-editor and I are already getting to work and setting up accounts all over

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This may not be a good time to ask, but if you're contacting Barclays, you may as well contact Bank of America. And a little something off shore would be nice.
needs money to run the

Hi H. I hope you'll submit more poetry to the AWW
How about a secret swiss account? I can keep the key on my swiss army pocket knife

There you go!
Is the UG going to have regular features like ? Course I'll submit some poetry.
wish there was a poet smiley to go with

Regular items? Except fiction, I don't think so, but there will probably be regular writers
We can't really predict how fast the polishers will polish, so it won't necessarily be regular
wishes there was a miner smiley

So, how much bedrock are you having to sift through to find those golden nuggets? I don't want to be unkind - really - but I read quite a few of the AWW entries a few months back and thought most of them were garbage.

Of course the percentage is confidential to non-miners, but there is some 'bedrock' but a lot of gems. I think we should be able to get the pipeline of entries going without a problem
I think we'll get back to minesweeping the AWW soon

I wouldn't mind being a gem polisher. I'm not sure I have time to be a miner, though. But I would like to help. I think it's important for people who write fiction to have someplace legit to send their stuff. Not everyone is happy writing about baseball stadiums, after all.
So, if a miner chooses a piece to put into the UG, I would be glad to come in at that point and help whip it into shape ---if that is indeed what a gem polisher is supposed to do. Or if you have any Jims that need polished, I could take a shot at that!

Excellent, H! It's fine to be a polisher and not a miner. May I give you a summary of the process so far?
When the editors (That's GTB and I) accept an entry, the polisher is chosen carefully. Gem polishing is a rather delicate process , because we want to maintain as much of the writers original work as possible, it's important that you check by their personal spaces and collaborate with them. We need the appropriate polisher for certain entries because of the reasons above. For instance, if an entry is extremely emotional, a polisher needs to be able to be sensitive and nice . When we allocate an entry to you, you're supposed to format it, check it for grammar but try not to change any content if possible.
So that's the description. Still sound like something you'd like to do?
So any luck finding unusual recipes?

Format it? Does that mean I'd have to finally learn GuideML? Which of course I have to do anyway since my web page at the library is webmasterless and hasn't been updated since April. Meaning I need to learn HTML so I can do it myself.
Actually, I think I'd make a good gem polisher. I can be sensitive. Really! And I write as well as most of the folks who submit stuff to AWW.
I don't really know GTB. Do I need to bake him cookies or anything?

Lots of strange sandwich combinations! People will eat about anything apparently if it's stuck between two slices of bread. Your all condiment sandwich was one of the better ones.

We can allocate entries without formatting issues to you at first, if you'd like
Yes, you do write very well I'm not sure how the polishing scheme is going to work yet (We've been focusing on mining, because it's more complex and probably harder) so I'll speak with GTB about this (just for you )

PS - GTB probably wouldn't like unusual cookies

Well, I'll just leave everything up to you, oh exalted one.
How about this. If you find something that you'd like me to do, then I'll be happy to give it a shot.
On the mining side, do you divide up the entries or does everyone try to read everything and then you compare notes? Whew! That would be a lot of work!
After I get this summer behind me and we get moved into our temporary quarters and it's too snowy to go outside and work in my garden....then I should have more time. Aaaarraagggggghhhhh! Forgot the holidays!

I'll give you something when we've got something It shouldn't be very long
The miners just read as many entries in the AWW as they want and comment on them. Then they pick the best . It is a lot of work, but hey so is being a scout
