*bouncey* ...about what time would you be coming through California? And would you likey be in the SF bay area at any point?

GTBacchus Posted Feb 3, 2003
Oh, we'll be in the Bay Area! That'll either be right before or right after the Gilroy Garlic Festival Meet-Up, depending on whether we circle the nation clockwise, or start earlier and do it counterclockwise.
Would you like to be added to the list of people we'll meet?

I missed a Californian on one of my forays to find meet attenders? And someone I've even seen around, too
Saturn Girl, check out A813061

'twould be cool to make it onto the list... however, I may have to get creative in the meeting thing... since at the moment, I don't have a licence to ~legally~ drive a car unless I have a ~california~ licenced driver of 25+ in the front passenger seat. Bah...
...oh, and it might be nice to be introduced, since I know agcBen via the whole battle of the gods/mt. olympus mess, but don't know you.

We must definitely see you Saturn Girl! GTB - can we give her a lift in one direction? The van is big enough to take passengers and we are sharing the journey with a few hootoo hitch-hickers already.

*thinks*
I guess I *have* just seen you while lurking... And since I'm in Sacramento, you'll note that it's far too early right now for me to remember where I've seen you...
*begins to introduce self, then realizes her space is pretty darn thorough, except for one slight detail (that could be picked up from journals, but she's telling anyway)*
The reason you may see me bewailing the fact that I may not be able to make the meet (which I've been, for lack of a better word, 'organizing') is that I may well be giving birth on or too near that weekend...

Well, if the little one decides to pop out in time to make you miss the meet, someone will have to make a point to take enough pictures and organise a card to make you feel like you were there. And of course, come or not... someone has to get the new little hitchhiker a towel, hmmm?

I figured out why your name was familiar to me, Saturn Girl--I'd been reading The Quest! No wonder you had no idea who I was...

Ah-ha... that makes sense. I'd actually forgotten about that! I should go check out what I've missed.

I only really chat with njan on AIM... he and I don't really lurk the same parts of h2g2. We only kinda met over the whole Cat/Dog war that seems to have died... and he popped up again during the whole attempt to assimilate h2g2 thing I tried. Oh, that reminds me, would you and the forthcoming hitchhiker be interested in being assimilated? We're nice borg! You get to keep your own personality and all that too

I guess we ought to say that it is unlikely that we will be at Gilroy, and therefore unlikely that we can give you a lift there, Saturngirl.
However - this DOES mean that we can spend much longer in and around both SF and LA. (I am not quite sure how this works, but I am told that it does! )
Anyway - though we may not be at the Gilroy meet, we will still be meeting people, including you, Saturngirl, and also - hopefully - the paperbaby!

From what you were saying before, you'd be in Savramento late enough that if I hadn't given birth yet, labor'll have to be induced, so you'd get to meet PaperBaby!

...what happened? Change of plans... I thought the gilroy meet was what the whole trip was pivoting around?

a girl called Ben Posted Feb 11, 2003
Gilroy clashed with the ONLY time we could meet ~jwf~ so we decided to shift the trip back a month.
The advantages are that we get to meet Canada's most Cumudgeonly, (and I really want to do that), and that we have a lot less stress for the first 3/4ths of the trip.
We also get a lot more time to meet people individually, and will be able to meet the paper-baby for sure, instead of maybe meeting the paper-bump!
So all in all it makes more sense.
Can anyone else give Saturngirl a lift to Gilroy though?
