I remember a Lord-of-the-Rings spoff called "Hourdes of the Things" - excellent fun, but perhaps a little too cruel to Mr Tolkien's work.

Then there's the Archers? A real institution.

I'm sorry I haven't a clue... Excellent comedy again.

And "The News Quiz" - much better than TVs "Have I got News for You"

There's a guy who does a mid-morning show on BBC WM, currently 10-1 weekdays and 9-midday Sundays. It's everything from consumer concerns to local and national politics, current affairs and people having trouble with councils.

A highlight for me was an enlightening live telephone interview with the editor of Al-Jazeera TV during the Iraq war earlier this year.

Did I forget to mention his name is Ed Doolan?

Definitely The Archers was a classic (if not a really great show). When we were kids we had to have had our bath and be in our PJs before The Archers came on, then straight to bed after.
There was one other "late" radio show we were allowed to listen to sinve it starred one of our neighbours - Jet Morgan. Remember this was before Sputnik, dogs in space, or project Mercury/Gemini/Apollo, etc. Definitely a forgotten classic
