Over the weekend I took part in Endure 24, a 24-hour running festival near Reading. It's like a music festival, only instead of relaxing and listening to music, you go for a 5-mile run. I was part of an 8-person mixed team and one of us had to be running the 5-mile course at all times, from 12 noon on Saturday to 12 noon on Sunday (As long as the last lap is started before 11:59:59 it counts, anyone trying to change over at 12:00:00 is stopped). I managed to get 5x5-mile laps in and was really pleased with how it went.

Last year my times were quite erratic, ranging between 44 minutes and 1 hour 53 following injury, but this year I was aiming to do the course in roughly 50 minutes each lap and my fastest and slowest times were within 8 and a half minutes of each other.

My experiences last year were bunged in smiley - thepost here: A87875086

It was better organised this year, with cars kept away from the tents. We were closer to the start/finish line and there were more toilets that were much cleaner than last year too.smiley - smiley

I didn't know there was a Redding in California – not sure I'd want to go for a 24-hour run there, though – it sounds hot… I ran 10k (5k Parkrun and 5k obstacle course) on Saturday at a temperature of at least 30 C (c. 86 Fahrenheit) and that was warm enough.

Glad the Endure 24 was well organised this year - you got excellent times indeed, especially managing under an hour at 3am...

Well done for doing the Parkrun and GungHo this weekend, too - I was hot enough walking sedately round a museum up north, and it wasn't quite 30 degrees, so I don't envy you that...

You do *not* want to run in Redding, California in the summer (midSpring to midAutumn could be iffy for a UK native, as well...). I remember nights that didn't drop *down* to 30C outside...
