There is a new funny thing which comes up when I have finished a journal entry. This is the second time that I have been writing something which just disappeared whilst I was editing it. I wonder if there is any way or ensuring that it does not happen again. - one little tap on a key and everything goes. This was about my wonderful day with my French cousins yesterday.

I wonder if I can retrieve it. ?

Please help if you can They came over and gave me such a wonderful day which I was sharing with you plus all the other marvellous days she has given me in France. Both times when my writing disappears, a notice - I think in red, pops up and I am asked for my password. this time I was so upset I did not give it . Last time I did give it but still lost the writing for good.

At the moment I feel like throwing my keyboard out of the window, but it is probably me that is to blame. !!

Hi AR80,

Best advice is to write it and store it in Word first, then paste it into your PS smiley - 2cents.

GHaving said that, I generally don't follow my own advice, but write them directly to My Journal etc smiley - blush.

Christiane,

It is definitely good advice, when writing a long post, to do it in Word, and keep Saving as you go. Just copy and paste into your message box when you have finished, and if anything goes wrong in the next stage you have still got your original. I think it is a rule we should all follow smiley - biggrin

However, like BigAl, I don't always take my own advice! Yesterday I spent an hour editing emails in to one document which I wanted to print off without all the bumph that comes with them, but forgot to Save as I went along! I accidentally closed the document and lost the lotsmiley - grr

So you see you are not alone. It is so annoying when you lose your masterpiece before it is done and posted, so I know how you feel. Don't throw the keyboard away or we shall all have to do the same smiley - rofl

Gnomon - time to move on

I agree about typing it into Word or even just Notepad.

Next time this happens, Christiane, please note down exactly what the red message says, and I will try and figure out why it is happening.

I don't always take my own advice either. What fun would it be to do that? smiley - winkeye

Hi Big Al, nice to hear from you.

As if I could type it into anything else and then move it!!. hehehe!!

I have a lovely young lass who comes in to help me and she gave me a lesson on how to type and then move it, Sadly it has all gone straight out of my head. I shall have to write it down tomrrow when she comes. What happems to the spaces in my brain when all the memory I have stored runs like a thief into the night? It really is not fair . One bothers to learn facts and figures, and them voops - like a gust of wind - they dash off somewhere else.

I hope the other brains finds them useful - lazy things. !! They should do their own remembering.

I am trying to make light of it, but it really is a problem.

Christine, if you go into the Help section, which you can find on the Start Up menu, you will find all the help you need in there.

Click on the A-Z and look for the problem you are having, of just type it straight into the search boxsmiley - cool

I learned a great deal from there when I first started using computers, that and asking questions/answers on that help site computeractive, link to that is here. Just register onto the site, and that's itsmiley - winkeye

The Help section has some useful stuff, and I've learned a lot from it. However, too often it doesn't mention the specific problems I have.

Hi Paul, if you go that site I have posted the link to, you will be able to post your problem, (in the correct thread) and it will be answered.
I have used it quite a lot, also just by reading other folks questions and the answers given, you can gain a lot from thatsmiley - winkeye
