Morroblivion - It's Morrowind, in Oblivion!

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

After the most convoluted download and installation process *ever* I had a go on Morroblivion this morning.

Rather pleased with it. Some of the textures are bugged, but bright purple gates and huts have a wonderfully decadent air I feel. The GIANT BLACK MONOLITHS that occasionally appear on area boundaries are a little disconcerting though.

Greatly enjoying playing Morrowind with the added features of Oblivion, fast travel especially. Two, linked, downsides though... the lack of speech audio for much of the dialogue in Morrowind makes the Extreme Close Up conversations of Oblivion even more disconcerting, and because there are no corresponding audio files the subtitles often flick by too quickly to read.

Off out in a bit but will play some more this evening and update you on the adventures of Dougrym the Dunmer.

It's all kinds of awesome. Even managed to steal the warehouse key at the beginning because of Oblivion's improved stealth system.

Actually managed to get as far as meeting up with Casius Casodes (sp?) and joining the Thieves' Guild, and have done a couple of Guild quests too. I remembered why I got so p'd off with the game the first time around; when I played it I was used to more-or-less linear CRPGs and so when I was told to Go Do Stuff before I'd be ready to take on the main quest I just got even more frustrated with the slow movement, fast-draining majicka and stamina and unleveled dungeons.

Now that I'm more familiar with ES games and using an engine I like I'm loving it. Not certain why a Kajiit slave would need to go with the Argonian Mission to be rescued though.

The only downsides so far is that Oblivion and Skyrim are much more generous with healing potions and I've got too used to Skyrim's recharging health!

Titania (gone for lunch)

Sounds really interesting, but I'm resisting the temptation for now, until I get fed up with Skyrim...

I'm usually recycling a couple of games every 5 or 6 months, but somehow, this time around, I don't think I'll be returning to WoW - too full of obnoxious kids these days, who only allow those with über armour to team up with them for dungeons and raids. I really hate that kind of elitist attitude, especially when combined with snottiness and bad language.

fords - number 1 all over heaven

I quit WoW last month for similar reasons. I killed Deathwing in the first week and have no desire to play Kung Fu Panda with the babies in the next xpac so unsubscribed and uninstalled. Just as well as I'm spending too much time with Skyrim!

I'm thinking of playing Oblivion again, but the clunky interface puts me off smiley - erm
