Hi Smudger, great to see you again!

I've just been laying low for a while, but back now. In RL still in Angoulême, South West France *but* possibly that may change soon, at least temporarily; i got an email today from an organisation helping Tsunami survivors; they are looking for English teachers (voluntary, obviously) in Thailand & i am interested. Need to get my CV sorted though & find someone to pay my airfare & basic living costs; always assuming they want me (but they probably do, 25yrs experience teaching abroad is sorta well qualified!)

Patrick N is investigating the French associations who are doing Tsunami aid programmes to see if something could be worked out; plus of course i would have to find someone to live here & take care of Yoda for a month or three. It's all only an idea at the moment, but it's a start. I need to do something new & this would at least use my skills & help people get their lives back together. It's a fact that 6 months on, the emergency bit has been in general sorted *but* the long term effort of rebuilding lives is only just starting & it isn't very newsworthy, just hard slog.

We shall see.

So, what's been going on with the rest of you? And when shall we have this party????? Better wait till the latecomers catch on to the new thread; go on, off you trot & spread the word!

That would be an amazing thing to do Terri, to go and help them there. I hope The Viking could go with you and share that experience, it would be life-changing and put so much into perspective.

Am I allowed to mention him?

Are they really going to blow up Comet? I appreciate that their spot-faced sales assistants are inept, and we'd all like to throttle them sometimes, but isn't blowing it up going a bit far? Why don't they just buy their electrical goods elsewheresmiley - huh

The obvious question is, why didn't she know it was going to happen and make allowances for it? smiley - silly

Ah yes, but apparently the hole might have been anything from a tiny "phtt" to a crater the size of a football field; i doubt that sort of deviation in the cosmic wonky is easy to assess.

So, having succeeded in blasting this one, is the next step going to be turning all the comets into polo mints?

he he, like the comet shop joke, hey, watch out Dixons, here they come (wonders if tonemonkey is lurking, he works for Dixons i believe!)
