...I signed up a few days ago and I don't seem to have got the welcome message on my personal space from an 'old hand' that I've read about. I'm not trying to get on anyone's case, I think I'm finding my way round OK so far (good isn't it?) but some pointers would be good. You guys n gals all seem very friendly, don't mean to moan, just a bit bewildered.
Cheers.

Hiya,
The servers are driving me nuts.
Had written a reply then it disappeared into neverneverland. Have to go now as my husband is taking me for lunch, so a quick reply.
Joined in March from another place that wasn't for me. Thanks to Pamela for showing me the way. hootoo is lovely even though I'm too thick or to get all the jokes. Love the on tap, too.

Ta very much - realy useful and heartwarming replies. An ace has just left me a message so with that and your pointers I'll be making the tea and dishing out cake in no time.
Oh by the way, my nickname refers to my favourite book 'Absolute Beginners' (has anyone read it?) but I've just realised it sounds like it's cos I'm new to h2g2. Maybe I'll change it to 'intermediate user' in a few weeks. then again maybe not.

I missed the cake it seems...
"Absolute Beginners" is a name... Though I only remember the movie with the same title... [with David Bowie in it, if my memory doesn't fail me] Am I close?!...

You're very close - it's the film adaptation of the book. The film is pretty good fun as I remember and also stars Ray Davis from the Kinks and Ed Tudor-Pole, frontman of medieval Punk band Tenpole Tudor and presenter of The Crystal Maze after Richard O'Brian. But being a musical it's not as powerful as the book. I think it might be out of print now, a mate said he couldn’t find it anywhere anyway. I got mine randomly from a charity shop cos I liked the cover.
I'm full of useless information. Have some from me.

I'm glad I got it right...
And, nope, they're not useless infos, on the contrary... Well, not when they are about a movie I liked anyway...
Charity shops are a good way to find books not available in bookshops...
Talk soon...
