I agree, it's because they can't do proper jobs, as far as I can tell. They're chosen for their abilities to lie convincingly to the public, and look good. I just can't think of a much better system.

Speaking as an American. The conservatives have been trying to get the left to dislike the media, and finally they do. The media is not popular here. People think, rightly or wrongly, that the American media did little to protest going into the war. Actually, the media's job is too be objective, and they merely reported on Bush and Co.

There is an objective media here in the US. It's just not "mainstream". The mainstream tends to pander to it's audience such as the likes of Faux News and it's opposite end counterparts, leaving accuracy up to smaller entities the bulk of the people never pay attention to. Sad.. truly sad..
