Bats are the most incredible things to see in flight. Every time I see one, my heart jumps. The best thing I've ever been bought was a little box that picks up their echolocation and teels you when they're nearby and, with a little practice, what species they are. One of these years, I'll get my handling license

What a gadget!!!
I've been wanting to buy a bat house to keep the critters around to feast on bugs near the house.. at least the ones that aren't gotten by my vicious killer attack chicken..

They don't seem interested here but we have very few mature trees... I guess I'll just have to settle for my memories of watching the bat flight at Carlsbad Caverns when I was younger..

Sorry, I often cause confusion with bat box terminology. We've been using bat detectors on walks for children for a few years now, and the idea of putting bat homes in trees has only recently become popular. So we've always called bat detectors 'bat boxes', and now a bat box is something completely different

I had thought they were called bat houses (like bird houses) anyway..
